Haven't dropped in on this thread in a bit so I thought I'd peruse it for it's present state.

Nothing special here. Only replies that were expected and even woefully predicted. Just the same pathological pleading for some kind of acceptance and validation of a marginal league at best. The same one everyone cursed during the Lockout is now everyone's "Rah Rah'. It's just so common.

The fact is simple: 82 does not equal 48. If any teams this season would have played a full, proper 82 game schedule (as it was last season and will be next season, not this one) there is no telling what the standings would be. There is no way to spin that fact into anything else. It's not a real season, playoffs or otherwise. The NHL is once again taking it's public for fools. From the beginning of the Lockout to the hollow trophy that will be shamefully and inevitably handed out. It's beyond me why they buy this dreck from the owners and GM's who must just chuckle to themselves as they sip their booze and smoke their cigars from the VIP box.

Reminds me of that great line from "American Beauty":

No wonder it won the Best Picture Oscar. An astute and accurate study of societal conditioning and how certain people see only what they want to see.

Brilliant!
There's a reason no one can stand the English.

Not to knock Socker,

But don't they play 38 games in the EPL and Spanish league and 34 games in the Eredivisie and Bundesliga. And then when it comes to the Champions league aren't matchups (2 games) ultimately and most often decided by goal differential even in the final?

OMG! Some Leaf playoff tickets cost over $1,000! Bell and Rogers sure knew what they were doing when they bought Maple Leaf Entertainment for $1 billion from Teachers.

Ha ha
The fact that you claim to be an educated, effete cinephile and yet you think American Beauty, one of the most overrated movies in the last 20 years, represents the ultimate in societal analysis makes me laugh hysterically. Yes, that paper bag floating in the wind and pop psychology musings on what a troubled life the wealthy middle class really says something poignant about society
The only good thing about that movie was Mena Suvari's tits

You become more of a caricature with every passing day

Which helps to prove all those people who say MLSE has no motivation to build a winner have absolutely no idea what they're talking about.

250/H with SP.

Over $1,000 for more than 3 hrs of pure joy (or pure agonizing pain) in Leaf Nation's best seat.

You choose! I'm sure those tickets WILL be snapped up in a few minutes. Talk about Leafs fever.

There is no wrong or right price for either case, it is supply vs demand. When one says OMG it is so expensive, he means to say OMG I want it so bad but I can't. Others who has the mean and the passion for the Leafs think differently :D

A big thank you to MSLE. Thank you for providing crap for the past decade and forcing fans to pay premium prices to watch it. Thank you for finally making the playoffs (although in a short season I'm not sure if this is a big deal or not). Thank you for allowing fans to put up with the strike this year. Thank you for telling fans how much you appreciate them and finally, thank you for giving it to fans up the ass with the increased prices for the playoffs...could you use a little lube next time?

Ticket price does not take the pleasure away from my putting my feet up on the coffee table, having a Blue in hand, watching the game unfold. Or better yet, at a sport bar, sipping my fav brew with a couple of buddies, shooting the breeze, clenching my hands in agony, pumping it up when the light is up (right red light that is)... If I am lucky enough, getting a complimentary ticket, HEAVEN.

This talk about pricing is there all the time, what the use of beating a dead horse? Every team doing it, if they can. Tell me you would not when the buyers keep buying! I think people should get used to CAPITALISM at work here.

I call myself a fan in the sense that I love this city, love the game of hockey thus become a Leafs fan for so long. In no way I have "contribute" financially foolishly to the team in all these years. Been to a few games myself, on the complimentary basis so as most tickets are: corporate season tickets, diehard well to do fans...

To stand on the sideline, never go to a game, never have to fork out the dough for a pair of tickets, it is hard to understand the tone of some who will take any chance to bash the team, SOUR GRAPES!

I too am shocked at the money grab but then, the team is owned by two of Canada's greediest corporations, so what else would/should you expect?
On the other hand, like sasemohan, I will be enjoying it on TV. MY beers and snacks will cost a lot less than the ones at the game and I don't have to worry about hitting a "ride program"! My lazy boy is a lot more comfortable than those crappy stadium seats. If the game sucks, hit the remote. I would not pay their prices for any sporting event, simply not worth it!

When the Leafs make the playoffs I get an immediate condition called Leafitis Hateis.
There are many symptoms, chief among which is an uncontrollable urge to puke 10 times an hour.

And now I have to deal with the CN Tower lighting up red? or blue? or whatever?

:attention:

Did you type that with the same key that you scratch your ear with? Like Obama said to Romney: "Please Proceed..."

Did the Leafs set some kind of "outshot" record this year? Could it be most games won while being badly outshot? Or, most games outshot in a season? I know, I know, at least one of you guys think SOG's are useless.

If Lupul had played an 82 game season, he would have been on pace to score 65 goals. Hope everybody stays healthy for the playoffs. I think Phanerf and Lupul should be co-captains.

Obviously it is useless in determining whether a team is good enough to make the playoffs. And that is indisputable. So rant all you want because you have lost the argument.:p

No, no argument. Just a FACT, not even an OPINION. Anyway, I'm sure some of you guys think it is a useless fact, unlike important facts like turnovers, blocked shots, hits, faceoff wins, etc.

Anyway, I think I remembered. It is most games outshot by a playoff team since the Montreal Canadiens.
