See now this I find really really annoying. I really get steamed when I hear the "she's working as an SP, so she must be broken" crap. Is the fact that you were abused as a child the reason you became a service provider? Or is it the fact that you volunteered at a shelter, heard the stories about the money you could make and utilized this industry as a way to get out of the hole you had dug yourself into?I like many SPs was abused as a child. I like many abused girls was volunteering at a shelter. I became intimately aware of the stories of dozens of sex trade workers. When I decided to accept the risks and problems of the industry as a viable path to getting out of debt I joined a few sex trade boards to get more insight on the financial aspects.
In the almost 15 years I've been involved in this industry it has been rare that I've met someone who was abused as a child, although it does happen. It has NEVER been the reason they opted to become an SP.
By far the majority of women I've met ( and in 15 years there have been a lot ) have a very healthy attitude about this industry and the clients that they see. There are of course varying reasons for getting involved, the overwhelming one being money however, I've found that even with the money there is generally a noble goal. Paying off student loans, buying a place to live, traveling etc... and rarely about ( at least initially ) a Louis Vuiton purse or a fancy car ( may find out they can have both ). Like all industries in which someone makes a lot of money, enjoying that money will of course also go hand in hand. There's nothing wrong with that and as long as they don't lose light of their initial goals ( which can and does happen but does not make them "broken" ), this industry serves a purpose for all those involved. No doubt it can suck you in but so can making a couple of hundred in cash tips as a waitress. SP's are not all broken, money hungry, the world owes me something man haters. At least not more so than any other industry and less than some others lol.
"So yes, I am aware that not all sex workers are the same. I know that for many it is something they do because they just need the money. I know some enjoy it because they crave the attention. I know some have classic inferiority complexes that make them vulnerable and in need of continuous attention."
Every reason listed above has a negative connotation......and I'm sorry but it's bullshit. Perhaps you need to view it this way because you're broken but please, for the love of God, stop painting this industry with such a broad goddamn brush because after having only one client and then marrying that client you frankly haven't got a clue what you're talking about.
