Anyone sensing a trend here?

The early naysayers in this thread and many from the last one on this thread have gone silent. It's clear a good number of the members support the CBC and give legit reason for their support.
Do you work there? Its crap, the CBC, costs us over $1B a year of TAXPAYER money, our money, to pay for crap productions. Better to put that billion back into taxpayer hands and let us support actual talent.

No I don't work there. As for the rest of your point, all has been done like dinner in past threads, so doesn't warrant a redo.

Actual talent, like whom?

And of course, YOU are the the greatest judge of talent here, and have a superior knowledge of how the system works.
Don't give up, keep up the brilliant work, everyone will soon realize that we don't hold a candle to that big brain of yours.
Please, tell us more, I'ld hate to see your gift go to waste.

Why the personal attack? Its a fairly common opinion that CBC produces bland programming. I'm not sure what that has to do with the size of my brain, but if it makes you feel better to denigrate me for my personal tastes, go for it. Have a nice day.

Oh, and you're not a hypocrite either.
That opinion is a lot less common than those who enjoy the CBC from my observations, but don't let that stop you from
enlightening the rest of us CBC employees who enjoy crap.

Let the backpedaling begin. How common, 75%, 50%, 25%? Among whom?

The CBC gets recognized with award winning shows, locally and worldwide. How did CTV, Global, CITY, or SUN do last night at the awards last night?

The most recent shining star to go global is 'Little Mosque on the Prairie', which has been syndicated worldwide, highlighted in major media worldwide and in that 'precious' US market, leading to plans to be 'cloned' by a major US network.

Noticed you didn't answer my simple question on talent. Should I type it more slowly? Will that help?

Having an opinion is one thing, expressing it, but not really backing it up is another. The members who vent then crawl back into the dark are many and of little value. Those who give their opinion and then support it with facts, logic, or at least some basis is what really counts in a discussion.

CBC radio started going downhill when they changed "Madly Off in All Directions" to "Slightly Annoyed in One Direction".

Pot. Kettle.

CBC is awful and you know it. Its white bread, and poorly made white bread. You want proof? Little Mosque on the Prairie. Arctic Air. Oh whatever, good grief I could go on indefinitely listing unremarkable, unwitty, poorly produced sap that came out of our $1 billion a year subsidies. Google "list of CBC TV shows" and you will have all the proof you need that CBC sucks.

As far as Little Mosque, a multi award winning, now syndicated in multiple countries, and soon to be copied on a major US network, is not what I would call weak white bread. Again with the $1 billion subsidy(?), which it isn't, it was pointed out more than once by multiple members that other Canadian networks also take/get government money. You're understanding of the television is becoming clear, limited. It's not I that needs to bone up on the subject.

So if I understand you correctly, what you're saying is that you don't like the CBC.

The quality of CBC has gone down because the present regime doesn't like them because they tend to be critical of the gov't and ask too many questions. Therefore they've faced constant cutbacks and staff reductions.
It is dangerous, from a professional level, to be too critical of this government. They don't like it.

And in fairness to the CBC, they are critical of every government.

The cutbacks have been on going since the mid 90's, not unique to the Conservatives.

Dragon's Den, a CBC original now copied in the US, Republic Of Doyle, Heartland, Fifth Estate, Marketplace, Nature of Things noticeably better sports coverage—even to a non-sports fan—than CTV, and on radio, too many excellent programs to list. The international recognition CTV and Global have earned is far outstripped by the CBC's raft of international awards, and no other broadcaster devotes so many hours to our stories, our concerns and our content.

But then carrying the American SuperBowl has been suggested as some sort of standard in this discussion. It is to laugh.
I sorry to point this out to you but Dragon's Den is a program that the CBC took from a TV program coincidentally titled Dragon's Den from the UK. That UK show was based on a similar program in Japan, where the dragon's were called tigers. This show is as Canadian as "Canadian Idol" or "ET Canada." I believe if you watch Shark Tank they will tell you that it is an original program too. At least there are sharks off the coast of the USA, never heard of any Dragon legends in Canada.
