well said.. this whole thread sounds fishy.

to the OP: whip out a video camera, turn down your window and start filiming the vehicle the next time you see it pursuing you... Make it clear that you are videotaping the guy.
Exactly. Have someone follow them, turn the tables. A police officer following by himself not likely. I would get a new phone number. You could always call a Monster I could introduce myself. Hey gentleman could I help you with something?

wait having a cleaning person doesn't mean you have a door man. You could own a condo and hire your own cleaning person.

I keep debating on whether the guy is just paranoid.

If they are following you it means they are parked outside likely near your car or where you leave with your car. Scan the area before you leave one day from a stairwell or windo and see if the same parked cars follow you.

But honestly I think all this advice is just going to make you more paranoid.

This happened to me. Thought someone was following me. Drove around in circles for a while. When I pulled into the police station, my tail new the jig was up and confessed.

Now that cell phones exist, call 911. Make a bunch of turns, so the PI doesn't know where you are going, and just show up at the police station. At a minimum, the police should caution the individual against stalking.

Q: Have you ever filed an insurance claim? Many insurance companies pay private investigators to take pictures of claimants, in order to find reasons to block a payout.

play a prank. park your car. get out of it. walk up to the car. reach into your jacket pocket, pull out a toy guy and point it at him. that should scare the crap out of him.

And possibly unrelated but now I remember a guy at the parking structure in Pearson and he was overly chatty and asked me where I was going. Gave me his business card - when the fuck does that happen? Never.
I anyone you don't know walks up and hands you something... get rid of it quickly..... even something as simple as a business card... it could be some kind of a GPS or RFID tracking device.

Pull your car into a public place with lots of people and security present, busy parking lot with cameras, and if he follows you there get out of your car and confront him. Take his picture, license plate, look on his dash for police computer or tracing device.

Take that info to the police.

I can give you an informed opinion that there is no such device that can fit into a business card that can track you via GPS or RFID.

I ain't buying. If dude really was a lawyer he would have followed Ardy's advice a long time ago.

I tend to agree with you.

I will even go further... if the OP is really a lawyer, then he would/should know how to deal with the situation instead of coming here to ask for advice.

Just saying...

yeah... if one has the brains to become a lawyer, one really don't need advice from a place like TERB... but again these days you'd have to wonder how some lawyers even became one

If the story is true, I would say he's not the brightest lawyer on the block.

the easiest way to find out if you are being followed is just to circle the block. No one makes four right turns in a row. Buy a decent replica handgun and next time you see the clown, pull up beside the guy and flash it. These guys sound very amateur so i wouldn't be surprised if that would be the last you see of them.
do not follow this advice

Actually, RFID cards do exist, for law enforcement and can even now be obtained for commercial use.

Here is a commercial example of an RFID card, I received a sample of these last month in fact. http://us.moo.com/nfc/

With a reasonable antenna and transceiver setup, these can be read from up to 200 meters away and the newer DASH7 units can be easily read at a distance of 1 kilometer.

Actually, amateur would be flashing a fake gun in your car. That'll get you arrested in no time.
