Thanks..... better box score than I was getting, tons of info. Just wasn't impressed with what I saw. Raps Free throws percentage looked like something from a girl's school game, turn overs still an issue. They have to show a lot of improvement or it will be another long year.
Oh yea a lot of ugly free throws I observed . Weird eh how something so easy ( that is why it's called free ) can be so hard for a professional athlete .. Maybe if these guys spent less time trying to do amazaing dunks and more time on free throws we would all be better off ..

I look at WNBA boxscores ( random ) and they seem to do better then the Raps did last night .. The fact those free throws by the Raps were on your home court makes it even more worse .

Imagine how good they'll be with Valenciunas and Lowry. The East is wide open, there's no reason why the Raptors can't grab the 8th seed. If you think about it, who's better than them in the East? Obviously the Heat, Pacers, Celtics, Knicks, Nets, Sixers, maybe the Bulls can grab the 7th seed without Rose, and the Raptors can definitely battle the other weak teams in the East for the 8th spot. I think they're better than the Pistons, Wizards, Bobcats, Bucks, Magic, Cavs, and could be better than the Hawks who lost Joe Johnson. Realistically they'll probably finish 10th or 11th, but there's no reason why they can't fight hard and slip into the playoffs being a few games under .500.
East may be wide open. but the atlantic division sure isnt. I would be surprised if they don't come last in that division.

Well it turns out I thought I still had NBATV when I switched over to Bell Fibe TV but apparently not, so I couldn't see tonights game......HOWEVER, from watching the highlights maybe some of you guys can tell me whether we really F@cked up in not taking Andre Drummond instead of Terrence Ross??...I'm not sure but I caught some monster dunks and blocks courtesy of Mr Drummond!!! Was he that Good????

Yes VC was the biggest star Toronto ever had but did he really put us on the map? People paied attention to his dunks not the team or the city. That's why it's still hard to get free agents to come and players to stay.

I have followed the team since its inception and I still to this day think we should be the Toronto Towers not the raptors but whatever.....

As for how they will do this year. 8th place would be like winning a championship if you were on the Heat. Who BTW would destroy the Raps in the first round.

Being the best of the worst is much different from being 8th best team if that makes sense. By being best of the worst it means they have no business playing the majority of the top 8.

I'll just be watching to see how the new pieces fit together and start reading up on next years draft and potential free agents/cap space.

A month after all star weekend the Raps will probably be resting which ever key players are not injured and tanking the rest of the season. :D

I watched the game and Mr Drummond already has a NBA Body and his 12 pts 6 boards was done so effortlessly ie His size alone can get those numbers . That is what fustrated scouts ie he shouldn't have dominated the NCAA but slept walked through the whole season .

Then we have Andrea Bargnani who looks slow out there and is showing signs of his bad self . Although saying that , he has had a history of having bad preseason games and bounced back when the bell rang for the start of the season .

The positive is DeMar DeRozan who attacked the basket every chance he got and Jose Calderon is looking good out there and is increasing his trade value by his play .

It sounds like a cutting Valunciunas/Amir as well as Lowry, could open things up a bit for Demar to get the basket more often. Val's cuts to the basket apparently opened up Bargnani for a couple of open threes as well.

The one thing I noticed about Jonas is he loves to play D and loves to block and he did his D work with out being called with a lot of fouls which is a good thing to take . Although if nobody knew nothing about Jonas and Drummond and were just seeing a game with these two young guys for the first time , I think Drummond would be the guy the person would be saying watch out for that guy .

I agree with Bargnani in that De Rozan is looking pretty good. I like what I see when he's attacking the basket.

Didn't see the game(don't have NBA TV) so my question is to those of you that watched is, with all the big men on that roster, how did the Raps allow 60 points in the paint?

The defense looked like the old Sam Mitchel days at times . As for your question , please refer to point number 1 lol . 13 offensive boards by the Pistons says a lot of lazy
Raptors on the floor and are being out hustled .

So I called Bell and added NBA TV to my package for one month and sure enough last nights game was being replayed tonight. Valunciunas didn't play enough to get a good sense, but I could see what all the excitement is about with respect to this kid. He's a 7 footer who runs and hustles. He cuts to basket. He clears out and calls for the ball like he really wants it while giving the guards a big target to pass it in. I think he's going to be exciting to watch. He had a nice touch on his first basket too.

It looks like we did OK with Lucas the III too. If this first game was any indication, he can shoot the lights out. He let one go to early to end the 3rd period(and missed) and Detroit almost came back with a 3 pointer that hit but was just shy of beating the shot clock. Calderon looked great. Bargnani looked like the guy from last season before the injury. Amir looked like his old reliable self too...Ditto for Derozan. NBA TV sped through the game skipping most of the free throws so I didn't even notice all the points Derozan made from the line.

Former Toronto Raptors Head Coach Sam Mitchell vehemently denied a story Jalen Rose detailed in his piece for Grantland, whereby the former Raptor player stated Mitchell and Vince Carter got into a physical altercation before the Raptors were set to take on the Portland Trail Blazers in the team's seventh game of the 2004-05 season.

It was hard to tell. Pre Season games are a very different animal. He did hustle on defense, and you could tell the team was trying a bunch of different things. His shot was obviously off as you can tell from the stat line, but I'm sure as long as he is healthy and plays like last year(pre-injuries) then we should be happy(with him). He's not going to carry us on his back to the promised land. We need a solid team effort and some surprises to the upside from some of the other players on this squad.
If the defense improves and our shooting percentage increases then we have a competitive team. I'm pretty happy if we match the performance of the Pacers from last year. After that we need to get lucky with a draft choice one year.

Valanciunas is playing really well, this guy has a lot of potential and he's only 20. I don't understand why the Raptors re-signed Jamaal Magloire, this guy literally spends the entire game on the bench, he probably gets the veteran minimum which is 1.2 million just to cheer on the team and warm the bench, not a bad gig.
