tonight on TSN New York vs the Raptors. It will be my first look at this years team. From what I have read and the hi-lites I've seen, I am looking forward to some decent basketball this season. I believe this team will be competitive and has a real chance to make the playoffs.

I'm very impressed with Valanciunas, this guy has the potential to be an all-star. I remember watching Damon, T-Mac, Vince, and Bosh in the preseason during their rookie year and I could tell they had all-star written all over them, and they all became superstars except for Damon. I see the same thing in Valanciunas, he's going to be the face of the franchise guaranteed.
I came away from last night's game with mixed feelings. Bargnani, 20 points and 7 rebounds, sounds good but he looked awful. I am hoping that he is rusty, having missed most of last year and not playing in the summer. JV will be at worst, OK. He still has a lot to learn but he is big and fearless. He just needs to play and get NBA experience. Love the 3 point guards. Lucas brings tons of energy and no mistake he is a talent. Calderone looked good as did Lowry. You can mix and match those 3 guys easily. This is a big improvement over teams in previous years. If Bargnani gets his shit together and stays healthy, playoffs are not out of the question.
Gotta agree Dawgger. The backcourt looks pretty solid. I think our shooting overall this year might have improved. It looks like we got 3 guards and Bargs who we can count on for points. The front court looks deep with guys who can hustle and rebound. Demar Derozan looks like he could potentially have a breakout season(I wasn't sure he had it in him) Might still not become a superstar but maybe a second tier all-star(like Bosh)
I think Fields will bounce back and have a great year too.
So far no rumblings of problems in the dressing room. If 15 pretty decent guys can get along an play team ball, they might surprise.
I'm not sure I saw Ed Davis play last night? He wouldn't be getting ready to leave is he?????

Down by 13, win by 19 against the Knicks, I like it. As Jack said, no super stars, but good depth.

We can all choose what bothers us or not and I respect it doesn't bother you and thewalker and others but it's just Rose's constant negativity toward the Raptors franchise .
Although saying that it kind of explains why a coach of a year doesn't seem to get another coaching gig ? It was also rumoured that he got in a heated exchange with Rafer Alston . Is it just me and if the story is right then I wish Vince showed that toughess on the floor instead of in the locker room and also I would think Sam would kick VC ass but I guess that isn't the case .

Never in franchise history that I can remember. Even during the VC days, we had undersized centers like Antonio Davis.
Marcus Camby maybe was the best center ever in franchise history, but he was only here two years and he's never been a big tough, physical center, more of a weak side shot blocker and rebounder.

Do we actually have a team with some form of inside presence on offense, getting to the line? Jonas and DeRozan each with 10 FTAs, and Lowry with another 8 FTs!! We were also +9 on the boards. Even the guards are getting 3-4 boards each for Calderon, Lowry and Lucas.wow 2nd best record in the entire leauge! even though its just pre season im still stunned.
looking at the box score, pretty positive. Bargs coming around? 17 pts 4 rebounds 3 assists.Raps, still too many turn overs, Lowry had 6.
