The level of skill required is debatable. I'm not trying to insult anyone. Just pointing out a debatable point. You consider it as a skill because you place a certain value on it. You don't value the work (skillful or not) of a waiter so you degrade its value. Both are fair opinions but you are not forced to support either business. I'd suggest you try doing either one for a living, but you never have, or will, since they are both 'beneath you'.

i have had sex and i have carried food. sex is way harder than carrying food. you have to try at sex to be good at it and it is a skill. you don't have to try to carry food right, you don't need to be skilled to carry food. again you comparing sex to carrying food for the level of skill required is ridiculous.

nah there is more to the job than that. you have to wipe a table, set the table, get drinks, remember the food that was ordered, then carry the food, then remove the dirty dishes when it's over. i am sure they are all highly skilled things to do, how long did you spend in trade school to learn that. i know i had it mastered by the time i was 5. you sir a bottomless pit of talent and skill.

I think instead of becoming emotionally involved in this little thread I'll just have to put this down to a lack of sophistication in dining experiences. Judging from the comments of most of the negative types they haven't fine dined much. Especially the ones who base part of the tip on the size of their servers mammaries.

When their best experience seems to be Hooters its difficult for them to see different levels of dining, and how a servers skill, product knowledge, and yes even charisma can make for an exccellent evening.
