If you are driving through NB, I'd recommend taking two different ways coming and going. I seem to recall the St John river valley is nice NB highway 2, Highway 132 in Quebec just north of NB is also nice.

The Trans-Canada along the middle Saint John River is rather nice although nothing to compare with the drive along the lower Saint John River using Rtes 102 and 177. However, the Trans-Canada (Rte 2) from about Kingsclear all the way to Moncton is a typical divided highway without anything that facinating about the view.

He's probably left such a sour taste in the mouths of the locals, they will hate many you whom come from away now. The islanders as a group are some of the friendliest folk in Canada. i wonder if they hope he won't return.

Actually I have been asked back but I don't like it very much. Some friends and family there. Newfoundland is just plain kind of boring especially between October and May.

Something tells me the OP is not planning to go between Oct and May, so problem of boredom solved.
