We live on a boat, and are seldom going to be at the same anchorage for more than a few days. I am learning to be a great cook, I even have my own kitchen. My garden will be a couple of pots just like in Mutiny on the Bounty. For now I have more to learn than I ever imagined was involved in driving a boat. After that I am going to join a distance learning program I have been planning on it for a while.Geriatrics is a big field, particularly in the area of dementia-related illnesses. Hey, it doesn't have to be a specific career. It could simply be gourmet cooking, gardening, painting, charity work, dancing, and other social causes. I'm sure the wife of an executive could also be involved in philanthropic causes that he supports.
I offered to be your friend, but you shot me down because I drive like Charlie Sheen.Since I was always a loaner it is rather nice but it does take getting used to.
One 'drives' a taxi or automobile, but one 'runs' or 'operates' a boat... sounds better that way.For now I have more to learn than I ever imagined was involved in driving a boat.
In our world LL runs things, but I get to drive some times. One 'drives' a taxi or automobile, but one 'runs' or 'operates' a boat... sounds better that way.
Unless you're trying to be cute, I can't always tell with you
Yeah, drive him crazy, right?I our world LL runs things, but I get to drive some times.
Domesticate herI think I'm in love with an sp. I had such a special time with her. Now I can't wait to see her again.
I know she's special because she's not the only sp I've seen, and nobody has made me feel this way before. It's not like I feel this way for every sp I saw. I couldn't stop thinking about her all this week and it's really bothering me now. What should I do?
Yeah, drive him crazy, right?
BTW, how are you getting internet on the boat? mini VSAT? Or are you at a marina?
Would you believe you are just too sexy and I was afraid LL would get jealous and maroon you on a sand bar with only sand crabs for company?I offered to be your friend, but you shot me down because I drive like Charlie Sheen.
Or was it because I butchered "The Crying Game" at a local karaoke?
I'm not good with details.
At least he would have lots of food.Would you believe you are just too sexy and I was afraid LL would get jealous and maroon you on a sand bar with only sand crabs for company?
Sorry to hear your sat is down -- if I was heading out to sea, working comms would be pretty high on my list of priorities! :Eek:Right now we only have it as WiFi in marinas. We have a satellite dome but it is not working right. They worked on it all yesterday and are back today. LL is a closet geek. I am just learning about all the toys and equipment built into this boat. We almost never watch TV, but we have movies on hard drives. Cool,
Satellite is supposed to give us weather etc. so we are a little limited in our trips till it works. They are also installing a remote control of so you can be down on deck to moor the boat when you dock. I had an issue trying to dock and moor at the same time.
If you ever see a Flir First Mate, get one. You can use it on the deck for docking at night, but it is a lot of fun for peeking at the neighbors. :rolf:
Oh I think we will be ok. Either main engine can provide electrical power, so can the generator we use at anchor, and the key systems can all run off the boats batteries for a day. We have dual radar and GPS and autopilots. As a back up we have a gyro-compass and a big old magnetic compass. If the satelite uplink goes down we do have traditional radio. Of all else fails we have the portable GPS, Sat phone, and Second Mate to fall back on.One can only wonder what these two clowns will do if their electronics go down. Can they use a compass? Do they know how to handle the craft in heavy water? This is an accident waiting to happen.
Ahhh, dock Captains. That explains everything.Oh I think we will be ok. By the end of the year both LL and I should be well on our way to having our papers to operate this size vessel.
But thank you for your concern

You're gonna get a remote control? A wireless remote would be COOL!! I hope the remotes float...I'm sure I'd accidentally drop it in the water the first week I had it
I've never used a First Mate but I've used a Flir i7 to find a hot wire in bundle...an i7 only has digital zoom so it's not much use for, uh, voyeuristic purposes like a First Mate
Actually I looked it up - there doesn't seem to be a term for a female 'peeping Tom'...so 'peeping Carol' it is!! :biggrin1:
What is a dock Captain?Ahhh, dock Captains. That explains everything.
