John Farrell missed a game, Colby Rasmus is injured, Jose Bautista got ejected combined with horrendous pitching against a very good team like Tampa Bay. Don't expect to win. Somehow the chemistry is not there and more trades are required to find the right group players.

In reality, they have Romero and prayers. This team needs a lot more help than we are led to believe.

I'd like to see the Jays but I think the Leafs have a better chance mainly because there is no way for the Jays to match the payrolls of not only the Yankees and Sox, but also Philly, LA, LA, and several others.
Actually, the salary cap hurts the Leafs as they could spend like the Yankees of hockey without it. Also there is more motivation, due to higher expectations and history as it involves the Leafs, to succeed as well as a city which is more of a hockey city than a baseball city. It should be easier to attract players.
As to your century comment, it is quite possible the vast majority of us will not be around to see the answer to that question.

Team needs time to gel. They have new guys at key positions and AA still has to fill the most glaring weakness, as we all know, closer. A legit closer likely would have allowed the Jays to contend a little longer and, in my opinion, had them ahead of the Rays.
If Johnson does not work out I still think the Jays should take a run at Longoria and move Lawie back to second.

Kidding aside I was betting on the fact that Tampa is always looking to keep payroll down and maybe the Jays could quietly offer something difficult to refuse. Or maybe not.
Go out and get Reyes(Mets) or Ramirez(Marlins) to play second(I am well aware they are traditionally SS). I heard both were available.
My theory is that the jays have for a long time been playing with what they know is a less than effective bullpen, especiallly after the trade deadline.
This puts pressure on every starting pitcher who now feels pressured to throw a no hitter every game,and go deep into the game everytime, this also puts pressure on the offence as they will now feel a 1 or 2 run lead is NEVER enough.

I 'heard' that. I just hope that AA understands and does something about it for next season.

If I were one of the field players I think I would tell AA "get us some pitching or trade me!"

I watched the Jays game last night against the Orioles, who were surpassed only by the Astros for ineptitude. After an interesting top of the tenth against the useless Kevin Gregg, Brian Tallet was brought in to pitch the bottom of the inning for the save. His first ten pitches included only two strikes and four balls. With two bases on balls and no outs, two hits later gave the Orioles the win. It was poor management to bring in Tallet and even worse, he had no stuff or control.
