Married with children! Somewhere in the middle of that long-runned show were 3 or 4 great seasons that kept me laughing the entire way.

Although it was short lived, I would say, Faulty Towers. It holds up very well watching the episodes 30 years later.

the road of life.....
Seinfeld. From my perspective - more than any other sitcom, Seinfeld came the closest to duplicating the identifiable & the unexpected experience of everyday life.

pretty sure we could all agree that the area of the sitcom to make us laugh is long since gone. you won't ever see a show like all in the family again cuz people are to sensitive, you wouldn't be able to do cheers anymore without someone trying to get norm to an aa meeting. all shows these days can't just be funny, they all have to have a message. it's what killed t.v and made reality happen.

father ted, also a good show. trailer park boys was classic as well, like a reality sitcom.

Corner Gas needs to be on that List , for Canadian content at least.

Also far too many american shows, what about Yes Minister ? Faulty Towers ? etc.

Please, don't anybody say Friends. I may feel compelled to mock you and question your masculinity.

I don't get the modern stuff. Some of my favorite old shows were Taxi, Night Court, Barney Miller, Mary Tyler Moore, Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies, Get Smart, Hogan's Heroes, Some Mothers do 'ave 'em, Are You Being Served, Doctor in the House. Not a sitcom, but Laugh In was a lot of fun, too.

Edit: Shazbat!!! I forgot all about Mork and Mindy.

Completely agree with you. Who could ever forget the miserable life of a great underdog like Al Bundy. He scored 4 touch downs in a single game =)

Threes Company, especially the one where there was a big misunderstanding that caused Jack some embarrassment.
I saw that one. Didn't it air the same night as the episode of Little House on the Prairies where Laura got upset and ran off into the woods?

The prob is that man of the young guys here don't know about or ever saw All In The Family or The Honeymooners so they're not able to appreciate that humour. Nowadays, The Honeymooners seems corny since our level of humour is much more sophisticated. And with All in the Family a lot of the humour was political and racial and based on the arguments between Mike and Archie, but Edith was funny all the time.
For me, my favourite is All in the Family. Whenever i get a chance to watch the reruns some where I still laugh my ass off!

all in the family is a classic show. wish we could get another show of that style on t.v now but it would never happen in today's world.

Especially on network tv.
We now have all the cable networks and they play by a whole different set of rules.
