That was unintentional. The count was 0-2 no reason to hit him, on a 3-0 count if he's hit probably intentional. Another thing if its intentional the Baltimore players don't react, they just stand there, in this case the catcher is the first to check on Bautista and the pitcher is visibly upset. If there was any thought of it being intentional there would have been retalliation.
I do not care what the count is, if they hit your best player then a response is required. Nail there best player/hitter.
Opposing teams got to know what happens if they mess with Bautista.

Where is Todd Stottlemyre when you need him ?

As much as I don't think much of Greg Zaun as a player or a commentator, that was the exact same point that he made. Whether it was intentional or not, you need to stand up for your top guy, so sometime during this series, they have to nail one of the top Baltimore guys just to show the rest of the league that you can't get away with hitting our top guy.

I told Jose not to take part in that home run derby. Bad karma. Since then he has sprained his ankle, got beaned in the head and no HR's.

Who or what did we get for Michael Young, now in Texas?

Second question, do you believe Alomar's number should be retired? I'm not sure. When he was good he was great but he had his well documented brain cramps and he was only here for 5(?) years

July 19, 2000: Traded by the Toronto Blue Jays with Darwin Cubillan to the Texas Rangers for Esteban Loaiza.

Why is Rasmus still batting second? He looks worse than Snider did before they sent him down.

As someone who is impatient with snider's progress, you need to have a little more patience with ausmus, not only is he new to the league, but he gets to face a lot of texas pitching, and their staff are not exactly slouches.

All I'm saying is move him down the batting order. Agreed the Texas pitching is excellent, however he looked out of place against Baltimore too.

One place in the batting order is also dependant not only on you ability to hit ,draw walks, but your ability to run, if you put him lower in the order, you may have to put someone slower up in the number 2 slot.

Thames was doing a good job there.

I agree. Putting him number two, is putting him under too much pressure until he can find his groove.

Well I hope he(Rasmus) gets his first hit out of the way today, followed by many more.
I noticed Hill was in the two slot on Saturday.

Hill came in for Escobar when he got tossed. Hill was actually in the lead off spot. MacDonald started @ second.

In other baseball news Cleveland lands Colorado pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez.
The Red Sox got Canadian Rich Harden from Oakland and infielder Mike Aviles from KC.

Coming from the NL Rasmus will need 20-30 at-bats to familarize with AL pitching.
He'll study video and get advice from coaches and other players
Look for him to have a couple of great hitting games in the coming week
I'm more worried about Bautista's current HR slump with no HR's since July 9 - as Bautista goes so the Jays go!

Rasmus has at least two hits, including a two RBI double in today's game.
