This came up in discussion over beers and I was stuck with "Grande Torino" and "For a few dollars more" and "Pale Rider" or "Unforgiven". Hell, maybe I just wanted to open up a different discussion here and put forth the idea that a Clint Eastwood western is the best damn thing you can waste time and beers on. While "Million Dollar Baby" was an awesome flick it was entirely too touchy feely for me. Yes it was great, but not in the way that "For a few dollars more" is great.

hands down, Unforgiven .. IMO, it's the best western ever because it gave you a truer look at the old west .. yet, the best film he directed is a tie between Unforgiven and Mystic River.

The movie that displayed an entirely different character! The bridges of Madison County. With all of his tough guy roles, this, for me, was a risky venture; it didn't hurt that Meryl Streep was the leading lady.

yes, I will have to agree that Unforgiven was a great character role for him and he made the transition from a almost reasonable family man to ruthless killer in that movie and he did it with ease. I'm a bit older and I guess I'm a sucker for the old Sergio Leone movies like "For a few dollars more" :

Also thought Grande Torino was a very good movie.

One of my Favs has always been Kelly's Heroes. Don't remember how many times me and a few buddies used to watch in on base while in the Army. That flick used to drive the lifers bonkers!....:D

while I loved UNFORGIVEN

Paint Your Wagon took him out of his element and showcased his passions

May not be his best, but "Play Misty for Me" was pretty darn good.

I liked the one with the orangutan best, probably The Good, The Bad and The Ugly next.

He wasn't in Bridges Of Madison County, that was Redford.

Think you better watch that movie again, cos it was Clint with Streep. Unless you think Clint was in "The Sting." I think the orangutan movie was "Every Which Way but Loose."

I think "Unforgiven" would have to rate as his best work, but it's a tough call. Such a strong body of work, as both actor and director.
