thats a real juvenile strawman attempt. You might want to define act. Some might say the Black Block acted on their beliefs. Thank goodness most wouldn't say so.

To do what? All I asked you for was a definition of 'act'?thats a real juvenile strawman attempt.
many of us actually do not live in the cess pool.. we simply zip in from various other geographic locales to hobby from time to time..but your right, it truly IS a cesspool.I truly wonder if this is true, and if so what it says for the bashing of the U.S. which is such a popular pastime here, while living is such a cesspool.
If you think this city is a cesspool, how do you describe, Calcutta, Rio, Mexico city, Nairobi, Moscow? I suspect you don't get around much.many of us actually do not live in the cess pool.. we simply zip in from various other geographic locales to hobby from time to time..but your right, it truly IS a cesspool.

hey bud..i get around plenty more than you i suspect, however my recreational/leisure time interests are devoted to landscapes and geography other than urban sink holes. to my mind all urban centers are cesspools. Seen one seen them all. Closer to the topic at hand, it's true, not all the rats in the cesspools however are necessarily cops by any means. They are simply assigned the duties of keeping the human sewage and sludge flowing in the right direction. Welcome to the human dirt pile
It didn't take much brainpower to figure out you were a water rat, but that didn't take away from what you said. You might not like the urban environment much, but Toronto isn't a cesspool and your hyperbole was just wrong. It might be nice to compare your whitewater adventures with mine, but I'd probably have to probably accept a handicap as I've been whitewater canoeing on and off for 40+ years with a little time off to kick back and explore some other geographical formations around the world. If you think this city is a cesspool, how do you describe, Calcutta, Rio, Mexico city, Nairobi, Moscow? Why is it that it seems you are always defending the putrid, decaying status quo rather than acknowledging there is a problem and addressing it with a REAL solution?
You are one of them aren't you?...yes THEM ..either that or a politician.
So you say far from a police state? Lets stop with the semantic games and mincing and dicing of words and tyring to minimize how bad the problem really is - thats all mental masturbation.
There is a sentiment and its obvious.
The fact is police acted poorly not so long ago - blindly following directions that were known to be inaccurate. The chief of police lied to the public and then lied about lying! and was caught ! It was nothing short of thoroughly disgusting. If they can do it once (though they have done it several times) they WILL do it again. They will disobey the charter of rights, they will protect and serve something other than the public interest, they will forsake democracy and they will lie, cheat, coverup, over look and do a completely sloppy, inept and pathetic job in sifting out the bad among them because they are a brotherhood, a brotherhood that needs to be reigned in by the public - not the other way around.
So of course things are coming to a head, there have been many injustices.....maybe instead of defending perhaps listen to this mirror, for what it is saying will only grow.
BTW no one ever said any of your absolutes, that: "all cops were pigs or corrupt." We see a problem in the force, its getting bigger and it's getting worse.
Lastly your argument also works on the other side. We are not all criminals so we don't need cameras on every corner and cops hovering over us as artificial protectors and artificial heros stomping on our right to speak freely and protest peacefully. We are specifically NOT talking about bank robbers, murders and rapists.
If the brotherhood had one iota of legal duty or sense of justice they would speak up and confess to their wrong doings and call out the wrongs of the other officers - but they don't, they hide it (or try to anyway) BTW isn't that a crime - obstructing justice or something along the line...hmm.. Of course they don't confess it, that would show how many cracks there are in walls of the brotherhood.
In anycase this isn't really about Mr.Russell or funeral size, that was merely a catalyst. Its about a force that disgracefuly let down the people of toronto - and its trying to pump itself back up. People thankfully can see through the smoke show.
Wrong again, but that's nothing new. It wouldn't take long to compile like minded thinkers with your mind set. but you might find it shorter than you would like. Many comments were posted making comments negative comments about the police, such as who paid for the funeral and of course how the cops got paid, but then these comments were proven wrong. some people actually learned something.I think Blackie and the other cop lovers are SLOWLY realizing that Notty is not so nutty and they are deluded in thinking everyone loves cops except me....lol
Nah, this funeral was politicized IMHO. Like I said, I think the death of this officer was exploited by the tribe. You can bet they are licking their chops for the upcoming contract negotiations. We have a growing problem with police, no question.
But let them gather and have as big a funeral as whomever shows up.
Two separate issues.
I agree they SHOULD have been 2 seperate issues, but in the end they weren't. Perhaps I am still scarred by the memories of the last time thousands of cops assembled in our city. My opinion is just that, but the fact is it an opinion that seems to be quite widely held based on all the posts here and on newspaper commentaries. As usual you are voicing your support for your business development folks. Nice to see you know where your bread is buttered.Sure, in you not so humble opinion it was but I think you are reading way too much malice into it.
I'm in total agreement with your sentiments. All the hullabaloo was a cynical stunt to bolster the reputation of a police force that showed its incompetence during the G20 debacle. The guy died and it's a tragedy. But does it warrant shutting down half the city, thousands of cops from all over and speeches by Fantino and others?
Young men die in Afghaniustan almost weekly and no equiivalent fuss is made.
It looks like a giant effort to take spotlight off the G20 excesses and save Blair's job.
Didn't you say you are a lawyer? Maybe I mixed you up with one of the other usual suspects.. it's so hard to tell you all apart. Sometimes you wonder if it is one person with multiple IDs.You see how easy it is to dismiss your rantings as those of a conspiracy theorist? My business has nothing to even remotely do with cops, the law, nothing even close. Where you picked up on that (that you've now mentioned twice) is a mystery to anyone but you.

Yes. Anyone who's stayed at all alert since reaching adulthood should be aware that policing is ugly, but that other occupations are more dangerous. Farming rates very high.…edit…Did you know that, according to an insurance broker of my acquaintance, construction workers and oil hands have far higher mortality rates than the police? Do we shut down half the city when some poor schmuck falls off a building?…edit…
So?Which is a different question than whether it was over the top.
jealous are we?Nah, this funeral was politicized IMHO. Like I said, I think the death of this officer was exploited by the tribe. You can bet they are licking their chops for the upcoming contract negotiations.
Scarred are we? Perhaps counselling is in order. That way you could work on your anti-semitism and scarring at the same time.I agree they SHOULD have been 2 seperate issues, but in the end they weren't. Rocket surgeon does exist as a profession in Rubbys own little world. where the skies are orange sherbet and you can reach up with a spoon and have a taste and the clouds are cotton candy. Rubby lives in a world where young ladies come and care and pleasure him and even bathe him in a warm hot spring in the sunshine. ( in reality it is the orderly from the psych ward named Buck that bathes him once a week. While Rubby is being bathed Buck likes to say : My name is Buck and I came to............................I understand the mistake in your post-op confusion, and everyone knows you know all about multiple handles (!), but I am not a lawyer. I am a Rocket Surgeon
Yeah that makes a lot of sense.Nah, this funeral was politicized IMHO. Like I said, I think the death of this officer was exploited by the tribe. You can bet they are licking their chops for the upcoming contract negotiations.
