Congrats to Jose Bautista who placed 4th in the MVP voting. He might have won if he had a slightly higher batting average and the Jays won 5 more games.

More speculation that Manny Ramirez might sign with the Jays partly because there is limited interest from big market teams in Ramirez this off season.
Ramirez still hits quite well against left handed pitchers ; so, he might fit in well in Toronto because the team has hit very poorly against port siders for the last couple of years.

Adam Lind should only be a platoon player like Garth Iorg or Rance Mulliniks was because he just can't hit lefthanders period. He just does'nt get lefthanders for whatever reason and you can't have a full time DH who only hits .117 against lefties esp in AL East. That is a recipe for exasperation.

Downs, Gregg and Olivo all turned down arbitration with Jays; so, in addition to pick from John Buck leaving the Jays would get 4 round 1A picks in next June's draft if all of Downs, Gregg and Olivo leave.

Jason Frasor will be back next year because his status as a Type A free agent made it difficult for him to get offers from other teams. If he had been a Type B he likely would have turned down arbitration because then the team he signed with wouldn't have to give up a compensating draft pick for taking him from Jays.

Downs leaving will also bring them something like a second round pick from the team that signs him.

Apparently the 2011 draft is loaded. Plus, the supplementary round is where teams tend to swing for the fences on high ceiling guys that slipped out of the First. Jays did well this year with Sanchez & Wojciechowski. Cecil was a sup 1st rounder in 2007.

You can never have enough draft picks. Right, Burkey?

L.A. Dodgers catcher, Russell Martin, is a free agent ? This is what I am hearing.
Martin was born in East York and lived in Quebec, he also spent some time in France in his childhood.
He is 27 yrs old, will be 28 when next season starts.

I think the Jays should be interested ... assuming it is true.
