the dark side
If Giguere is a legit number one goalie I guess tha makes Jonas Hiller the best goalie in the NHL, given how his numbers were VASTLY superior for the past two seasons. But we all know Hiller is nowhere near that --- and logically Giguere is nowhere near a number one goalie anymore.
I'll take my chances with Giggy any day compared to Toskala!

Both of them are amongst the five worst goalies in the league. If it makes you happy that Giguere is slightly better then Toskala, you are easily satisfied.

That statement is not even close to true.

Giguere ranked 41st out of 83 goaltenders in Wins in the 2009-10 season. That would put him in the upper half of goaltenders in the league, in that category.

Giguere ranked 34th of 44 goalies in g.a.a. in the 2009-10 season, not great, but according to my math, not in the worst 5.

Giguere ranked 26th of 44 goalies in save percentage in the 2009-10 season, again, not in the worst 5.

Toskala in these categories: 45th (of 83), 44th (worst) , 44th (worst) . Yup, he sucked. :D

Now lets not let a silly thing like facts get in the way of maurice 93's chance to bash the Leafs

Watching the Leafs on LEAF TV. All 5 of their SOG have been on power plays.
I'd love to have 5 SOG in a night, power play or not. Alas, those days are gone.

Well, since the regular season hasn't started and I know that all you true blue leafs fans are so optimistic, I will wish you the best. It December, when the media starts exploding on MLSE, coaches and players, I'll speak up again and when the Leafs are officially out of the playoff picture, I'll speak again. Until then, I just enjoy watching a hockey game here and there.

big deal, its only preseason, the Leafs will make the playoffs and pull of a surprise or 2
No they won't
My crystal ball says 28th place ahead of only Minnesota and Anaheim
Edmonton will be the surprise team in Canada this year
Only Ottawa, Vancouver, and Edmonton make the playoffs from the Great White North
Toronto, Calgary, and Montreal are on the outs BABY!

Toronto not going to make the playoffs ? We will see.
Ottawa in ? Probably.
Vancouver in ? Likely.
Edmonton in ? I have my doubts. As good as Hall may be this season, I do not see him bringing enough to get the Oil back into the PO.
Calgary out ? I will not argue that one.
Montreal out ? Although I am leaning toward that prediction I have more faith in Montreal then the Oil doing anything.

Are you guys saying that no Canadian team will win the Stanley Cup in 2010-11? Except for his first year, Gary Bettman has a perfect record of never allowing a Canadian team to win the Cup.

What a bogus statement...as much of an asshole that Bettman is, it is only the fault of the teams in Canada that they have not been able to muster one Cup since that fluke by Montreal in 1993. From underacheiving Ottawa and Vancouver teams, close but no cigar Calgary team, and the barely had a look Leaf teams, the Canadian teams have no one but themselves to blame for not bringing this country a cup. And with the state of all the Canadian teams today, there isn't one on the horizon either

Leafs looked good tonight. Lots to be optimistic about this year if you're a Leafs fan.

The Ottawa Senaturds and Habs are wishing they had a team like ours. Those who don't are delusional.

Toronto: young team with skill and heart.
Habs: Cheapshot artists (cammalleri), idiotic fans who boo their goalie in the preseason, overpaid and underperforming players.

If Toronto do not make the playoffs and Montreal do, we'll be sure to see him again bashing other teams and team fans. He'll even try to justify why his team is still better than others.
Yeah I know.

Even though I'm a Sens fan I'm hoping that the Leafs make the playoffs this year.

It would be nice too see both teams renew their post season rivalry and maybe just maybe the Sens can get some revenge for past playoff humiliations.
