Just heard they shut down Brandon Morrow. It isn't even September. This guy is a 26 year old adult male and he can't pitch into September? Guys, he is not a baby.
It's better to shut him down for a month when they know they won't make it to the postseason than to lose him for a year or more due to injury. Yes, he's not a baby, but neither were Marcum, Magowan and Litsch when they went down. I'm guessing that the Jays management were pretty freaked a couple of years ago when they had the ungodly rash of injuries in their rotation that, at one time, was Tallet and a bunch of triple A guys. I think shutting down Morrow is the prudent thing to do.

The Blue Jays (and a lot of other MLB organizations) limit innings increases to 20% year over year.

Morrow pitched 124.2 innings last year. He's already at 143 innings. A 20% increase would be ~25 more innings.

His next start, presuming he goes 6, would be 149 . The math works.

I'd rather they shut him down, and have him healthy and ready to go next April, than squeeze two more starts out of him this September and he ends up with a sore arm.

Also I think the Jays want to take a look at guys like Drabek and Stewart in September and see what they have.

It's doubtful that Drabek will pitch with the Blue Jays this September. He's already near/at his innings limit.

Yea, Drabek and Stewart are on a planned course for innings this year and it would be a huge shock if either left New Hampshire this season for the Blue Jays.
They'll use every retread in Vegas who has a pulse before either of Stewart or Drabek are brought up.
Lately Drabek only goes about 5 innings for every start before he is pulled in to limit his season innings count and same with Stewart - only going 3 to 5 innings lately.

Stewart only did 105.0 innings last year and so far this year he's at 133.1 with a couple of games left to pitch in before his team is in playoffs.

Drabek did 158.0 innings last year and is at 159.0 now with a couple of more regular season starts left and then a couple of playoff games too.

Sounds good. 2010 is a "nothing" year for the Jays. Let's save Morrow for 2011 when the Jays contend. I just hope he can go 162 plus playoffs and World Series in 2011 and future years.

Tonight's game was 13 - 5 over Tampa Bay. It would have been nice to be able to watch it. Thanks Rogers. Jays had a 10 run 6th, with dingers by Bautista, Hill and Johnny Mac. Looking at the box score, I saw that they couldn't even pull in 13,000 people to watch the game down in TB.

Anywhere there's a Strip Joint
They go and switch the Jays games to the new channel, and stick us with Detroit - Minnesota like WTF.

"What does it take to be #1?"

Well, apparently taking 75% of Jays' games away from the ordinary viewer and sticking them on their stupid new pay sports channel. If you check the Jays' schedule on their site, the vast majority of games will henceforth be on SN1.

You now get to PAY to see the Jays finish fourth for another year.

I like how they kept sticking up a graphic during the Tigers-Twins game, telling people that the Jays game is on Sportsnet One, so they should "call their local provider for a free preview". The only problem is, no providers besides Rogers themselves are carrying this channel, so Rogers are basically asking viewers to call their local cable company and ask for a channel that's not available to them. I hope the slimebags at Rogers lose their shirts on Sportsnet One... I would think ad revenue must be down for the free Sportsnet channels, unless there's a whole lot of Canadians who want to watch Tigers and Orioles games.

By the way, if you want to criticize the Sportsnet One fiasco, I guess it's best not to do so on Rogers-owned sportsnet.ca. I posted a comment on a sportsnet forum about how Rogers is just trying to gouge Jays fans for more money with Sportsnet One, and now curiously, when I try to log into my sportsnet.ca account, I'm redirected to a fad diet website... and the thread I posted in has magically vanished.

Why was the game in the afternoon in New York yesterday ?

If they had to lose, I am glad it was to the Yankees.

John McDonald hit his 6th homer of the season, a career high. How long do you think it's going to be before Damian (sucks) Cox suggests he's on 'roids?

nice win today, but why was Hill yanked in the ninth for McCoy?

Have you seen Hill's defensive play this year?

Just a guess.
Actually, Hill is right around his career average as a 2nd baseman. (.987, this year, .984)

Our perspective has changed though, as he was better in 2008, and 2009 . (.996, and .991)

I always have found fielding averages to be misleading.

Some guys just have so much more range and get to more balls and as a result have more errors.

As for hill, he has booted a lot of routine ones this year and they seem more glaring than his % shows.

Put another way robbie Alomar he ain't.
