How can all this stuff be for FREE? Somebody must be paying for it. Is it like "free" TV where I pay Rogers $50 a month plus extra pay for extras?I just tried it and it works...it's free for now.
I think I read on the Google website it's free USA/Canada till the end of the year (.02 for other countries). How can all this stuff be for FREE? Somebody must be paying for it. Is it like "free" TV where I pay Rogers $50 a month plus extra pay for extras?
What? So, TV, telephone and Internet will all be FREE? Some of us are currently paying $100 a month for this stuff. Will Google also provide a free 50" HD Plasma TV to us as well? Can't wait 'til google TV lays a beating on Rogers/Bell and the CRTC....
TV will not be free, perhaps some channels will, but you will be able to watch just about anything on a pay per view basis. What? So, TV, telephone and Internet will all be FREE? they just added the ability to dial landlines anywhere in the world.Isn't GTalk old news? It's been around for a while now...
That's great, but I just don't want anyone to be confused between the new Google Chat calling feature in GMail (which is available in both the US and Canada), and Google Voice (which is only in the US).Just installed it on my Linux PC here in Buffalo NY.
Took < 1 minute to D/L and install the VIOP plugin Gmail provides.
Gmail walks you through the easy setup process.
Got a Google phone number and all.
When complete, made a couple test calls and it works perfect with great sound quality, better than Skype I might add....
