He was the complete ballplayer. A "5 tool" man. If someone called you a "fucking faggot", would you sit still and take that crap? The umpire was lucky that he didn't get punched in the face.He was the Jays best 2B ever, that is for certain... However, his career did go downhill after the spitting incident, I will give you that.
Yep I don't agree with Eddie on too much but when he is right he is right.Taking Eckersley deep.
Who gives a shit about the spitting? If Hirshbeck doesn't, nobody else should.
I repeat, Eckersley deep to right, arms upraised.
Yep, I agree with you on all points!Best 2B ever.
One of the best in MLB ever.
Deserves the HOF first ballot to be sure.
People who keep going back to the spitting incident are just retarded. Sure let's all get behind McGwire, Canseco, Sosa, Palmeiro, Clemens, et all for the HOF but not Alomar? Sure pre-meditated steriod use is forgivable but a spur of the moment bad judgment (spitting on an umpire) is not? Get real.
Not 1st Ballot, Robbie was eligible this year, and fell 8 votes short of induction, he received 73.7%.Deserves the HOF first ballot to be sure.
Evidently, in the history of HOF ballotting, Alomar came the closest on first ballot without making it. He should be a shoe in next time. Not 1st Ballot, Robbie was eligible this year, and fell 8 votes short of induction, he received 73.7%.
75% is required for election to the Baseball HoF.
Catch the taste!!!I'll remember him for his MaCain Punch commercials...
Best second baseman ever is Joe Morgan. Its not evan that close - Morgan was so dominant in his five peak seasons from 1972-1976.Best 2B ever.

I was simply comparing Alomar to Morgan, as I was responding to the clàim that Alomar was the best second baseman ever. It's "not even that close"? Uh, yes, it is. Eddie Collins, Rogers Hornsby, Nap Lajoie. All off the top of my head.
Alomar should safely make it. Nobody with that level of voting has ever failed to be elected. If he's not elected next year, I'll be shocked.
