Jumping ahead a bit, I would love to see a Chicago-Montreal finals (2 "original 6" teams). Chicago with Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Pierre Pilote and Glenn Hall. Montreal with Jean Beliveau, Henri Richard, Doug Harvey, Dickie Moore and Jacques Plante. That would be a fantastic series.

Flyers - can they pull off the ultimate "Double 3-0" comeback?! Down 3-0 in the series, down 3-0 in the final game.

The Double 3-0 comeback is now a fact. 3-4 in games. 3-4 the score.

I'll admit, I didn't see much of the games. I was watching some batting practice on another channel but what I did see it was clearly 4 different teams on the ice during the game and Phillie was hungrier at the end.

It had to be as close to a dream season for the NHL as possible. They had to deal with an Olympic year, but it was local and the GMG came down to Canada and the USA ... in OT to boot.

The playoffs have been very good. Each of the first round series were 1-1, then 2-2, with the one exception(Philly / NJ).
I am sure they would have liked to see a NY area team advance and have Ovechkin and the Caps rather then Montreal moving on, but there is some good in a Montreal / Philadelphia East final. If shows that even the seven and eight seeds can advance.
In the West they have a California team and an original six team with a bunch of young stars.
In the eyes of the NHL it could be better, but this playoff is not bad.

Now for a prediction of the third round.
San Jose in six.
Montreal in six.

Chicago are due. Last time they won the cup was '61. When they win this year, the only original 6 team not to have won the cup since the 60's will be the pathetic Leafs.

Ah '61, I remember it well. I've only met one person in my life, a good bud from way back, who openly/in the flesh admitted to being a Hawks fan. They are rare north of the border. After watching them in Vancouver series they will be something to watch this year. If thery do it, that will a hell of a phone call to him and no doubt he'll be the one doing most of the yaking.

A Chicago-Philadephia finals is a definite possiblity. This should make Gary Bettman happy to have two large market American teams.

I think to any neutral observer it iwould also be the most interesting matchup. Although Chicago vs. anyone is a fascinating matchup more or less.

Both the Saturday and Sunday playoff games are afternoon starts. Looks like it is to please NBC. The NHL needs the American TV exposure. No hockey on a Saturday night is so unCanadian.

Chicago has now won 3 games in their series with San Jose but as we all know winning the 4th game is not a guarantee.
