This is very fucked up.
Still might be better than one of my most influential decision helpers. My dick helps with many of my decisions. He seems to make a strong argument at the time but the is unable to see any of the long term consequences. :(

Respectfully no it is not.

Much depends upon what one means by the statement. There is a very large difference between saying “God is involved in my life”, and "there is no use in exercising any self will because 'my fate is in God's hands'".

"Many of us might assume that people of higher social class standing tend to reject beliefs about divine intervention," Scott Schieman, a sociology professor at the University of Toronto, said. "My findings indicate that while this is true among those less committed to religious life, it is not the case for people who are more committed to religious participation."

God helped me decide which SP to make my last appointment with. He told me she would travel to the islands with me but he was wrong. God is a liar.

82 percent of participants reported that they depend on God for help and guidance in making decisions.
71 percent said they believe that when good or bad things happen, these occurrences are simply part of God's plan for them.
61 percent indicated they believe God has determined the direction and course of their lives.
32 percent agreed with the statement: "There is no sense in planning a lot because ultimately my fate is in God's hands.
Good lord.... (no pun )

Then why didnt 71% of Americans who beleive in "God's Plan" chill the fuck out when 911 happened?....after all that was part of gods plan....cant argue with that

who said that in order to understand how stupid Americans are you have to look at how stupid an average American is and then realize that 50% of them must be stupider than that?
That would be the Mean American, actually, but the Average American wouldn't understand the term.

Equally true of Canadians of course.

That's a number I just don't get, since a third of the worlds population lives in a mostly non religious country, unless you think of politics as a religion.

I agree with your sentiments. However, there is evidence that the less control people have over their lives, the more likely they are to be religious. Thus, since people cannot control whether they are the victim of a terrorist attack, such events could make them more religious.

As children, we're all told that the Easter Bunny hides eggs in the garden, Santa Claus comes down the chimney with gifts and that there's an Invisible Man in the Sky watching you every minute of every day. As we grow into a little bit of maturity, we realize that Bunnies and Bearded Men in Red Suits were well intentioned fables but that is all. All of us achieve this certain epiphany whether we like it or not. It's called being an ADULT.

Why is it then that adults still believe in 'The Fable of the Invisible Man in the Sky' knowing that all the other folklore they were told as children is just that: folklore. Is it the lack of confidence to believe in one's own abilities? Is it the lack of self-clarity between Faith and Religion? Is there no Love in their lives to remind them of what is truly powerful?

Woe to them that believe rituals, pomp and circumstance will save their souls.

I believe in Love.

In fact, I have Faith in it.

Your comments are on the mark with one small suggested change as noted.

A lot of people don't want to take responsibility for what they do, therefore give it over to someone or something else. Just ask George.
