I saw the 3rd episode. At least there is a story somewhere there. I have a problem with starships that are supposed to be BEFORE the time of Kirk and Picard somehow looking more advanced than those. But that is the world of sci-fi. It changes as our present day technology changes.
- I agree, that is the problem with ST prequels, you have to almost "dumb-down" the tech to make it fit canon. Although I though Enterprise did a good job with that.
- I am not a fan of the new Klingon look, however, it can always be explained as they were an isolated group, unaffected by the augment virus.
- I don't like the more dark-tone of the series, I know DS9 had it too, but at least it still felt in the same series to TNG; Discovery just fells like a more chaotic universe where humans aren't as enlighten as we are made to believe according to the other series.
- I think they should have set this at least 50 years ahead of Nemesis that way all the tech would fit nicely, holo-communications, Klingon look, experimental propulsion, Tribbles, Voles, and Gorns.
- No problem with a diverse cast, seriously, I remember when people had a problem with Janeway being female. Still surprises me how people loose their shit over stuff like this, get out of your little bubble once in a while. Trigger warning and spoiler alert, that science officer, Stamet is an openly gay character.
- I'm not a total believer that this show will last past 3 seasons. It just doesn't have that ST feel to it, which will alienate (no pun intended) Trek fans. But if they put "some really hot chicks" as Phil C. McNasty wants (and as every typical tv/hollywood execs do as well), they could pick up his demographic to help carry this show.
- I'll still give it to the end of this season to see if it will improve, but I know they will have some stupid cliff-hanger at the end.
