I am absolutely aware of my privilege.

That said, do you think I initially chose sex work because I am just an absolute slut? No, I initially chose it because I found myself in a corner and needed money, fast.

Survival sex work is real, and a prime example of what this thread is about.
What welfare policy would have helped you and other escorts
to stay out of your line of work?

One that doesn't expect a single Mum to find a place in Ontario for rent under $700. For starters. And one that allows for actual education. You can only do "trade" courses under wellie.

I'm sure there are many single parents, male or female, that don't have the ability to enter the sex trade. Somehow they manage to get by...and what is wrong with learning a trade? Every tradesman I know who actually works makes well over $100k a year.

The plan is to lessen poverty by killing poor people with that right2die/MAID law.

In other words, genocide.

Well, reducing poverty by creating conditions for the economic prosperity is what the Western democracies have been actively pursuing since the end of WWII. The results are undeniable- longer life spans, less crime, reduction in birth rates and general social and political stability. We can argue until the cows come home about the details, but any country that managed to develop the successful middle class, from S. Korea, Japan to any Western European country, kills any anti free market argument without even having to make a case.

Exactly, You need money first. That is why the poor people steal or do other crimes. They are looking to have some kind of substantial life.
No, my point was that as a society you need to P R O D U C E wealth/money first. You have to produce something before you can do anything with it.

This 30 year old single mother of 5 (just had a newborn) has it all figured out: https://globalnews.ca/news/7747336/saskatoon-mom-evicted-struggles-to-find-housing/

Her best quotes:

"Moving forward, she said people with many children or bad credit should not be punished in the search for housing."

“There’s too many barriers that I can’t control,” she said. “It’s been a really long haul.”

“I’ve done a lot of work to get to where I am and it just feels like I’m being punished.”

Nothing that using birth control couldn't have solved. The world is so mean to people who pop out of half dozen kids without any means to support them.

Singapore in the 1960s at independence was a poor fishing area. The book from from third world to first by Lee Kwan Yew gives an historical timeline how Singapore transformed from a poor third world fishing area into a first world country with very little natural resources

you lesson crime by jailing criminals

you better yourself, you don't count/demand others or the government do it for you

if you want/need the government to take care of your every need (or what they decide you need try North Korea. having experienced the hospitality of the soviet union first hand, trust me you wont like the government taking care of you and providing everything you "need"

People started talking this way in England around the time of Richard III, they were called levelers. Like Bernie Sanders without the mittens...

Not saying there is anything wrong with it, but to have that be a limit when not everyone is physically able to do tradework is hugely problematic. I couldnt do roofing or plumbing for a living. I myself have health issues that make that impossible.

And "managing to get by" is what? Either working 3 jobs, drowning in debt or... most commonly with prolonged "managing", resorting to "fringe" work illegally. Under the table jobs, service jobs unclaimed on taxes, crime exists outside of the scope of petty crime.

And to be clear, I didn't submit to the system. I put myself through University and earned my way into a decent job. But I am wholly aware that it is not that easy for everyone. I watched many who tried struggle with OSAP and fail in the end. Very few make it through to the other side, especially if they come from marginalized backgrounds who have generations of systemic oppression behind them. To not acknowledge that is a massive sign of privilege.

Singapore's greatest natural assets are smart people and an amazing natural harbor. I also heard they kill drug smugglers -- problem solved.

Any truth to the rumours that the tent people are breeding? Arda (CP24 before her marriage) actually interviewed a pregnant tent person and congratulated her.

And what is the worst contributor to poor families? Broken homes. If we make a concerted effort to build up and support family units, we'll have a much better society.

life is about the choices you make or the lack of making good choices.

my issue is why should I and other people who have made good choices for their life be responsible for those who have chosen poorly.

socialism is about stealing peoples money and giving it to someone else and calling it a .safety net

if a family or the adults in the family cannot afford to have children it would be responsible of them not to have children till they can afford them. just because people cam have children doesnt mean they should.

Agreed. That would be the responsible thing to do wouldn't it. Unfortunately, we have a system that incentivizes poor folks to bear children.
