-You begin to grow nose and ear hair and they need to be yanked
-You prefer staying in and getting a good night's sleep rather than a night out with friends and drinks
-You have to watch what you eat because your metabolism isn't fast enough to automatically take care of it for you
-The concerns of teenagers seems so shallow and simplistic, you wonder if they're retarded
-You can't name any of the artists played on the radio and you really don't care to
-People start calling you "sir"
Thank you for this. Now I know I am not getting old although I don't think the comment about shallow and simplistic applies only to teenagers.

When I think pols in their 40s are young. When I have to explain to the younger folks that Star Wars movies should be watched in the order 4,5,6,1,2,3,7. When I used 'folks'.

I took my teenage daughter to see Paul McCartney a few years back. She was excited because she had learned about him in History class.

Apparently life imitates art. When Paul McCartney appeared on the Simpsons, Lisa told Paul she learned about him in history class. Myself, I'm too old to rock 'n roll but too young to die. Some of you will get this.

Oh. I'll bet my daughter saw that episode. I thought it was too clever.

I told an SP who is a university student that I watched the first Canada/Russia hockey series. She said that they had just talked about it in class and she was excited to have met someone who had seen it.

A member of Team Canada lives in my neighborhood. I've bumped in to him a few times. I guess this means I can bask in reflected glory. BTW I watched it too. I saw the last game when I was in grade school at the time, and the principal saw fit to gather grades 4-6 in the largest classroom, where the one TV was set up, and we could watch the third period. Us, and the whole country exploded when Henderson scored the winner - FYI he also scored the winning goal for games 5 and 6.

I was fortunate enough to be at the game at the Gardens.
I have been to the Gardens for other games and concerts over the years but nothing and I mean nothing has ever been as loud as the crowd was that night when Canada scored. You could feel the sound rumble through your chest.
Still got the program from the game too.

When you remember Oct 19, 1987 like it was yesterday. Any old-timers remember what they were doing that day? I was a first year trader (meaning I knew fuck all) for a now defunct firm and have a vivid memory of looking at the screens and seeing the DOW change was down 80 something and then looking back a few minutes later and seeing it at -20 something. Then realizing that the big figure meant that the DOW was actually down triple digits (Telerate/Reuters/Bloomberg used to only have 2 digits for the change so couldn't display the change properly). Surreal.
