Not just Iran. His fatal mistake was also believing he could draw in
Egypt and Jordan and others.
Right on cue Qatar-based media and clerics
kicked off a campaign urging Syrians, Lebanese, Jordanians
and Egyptians...but not Qataris, to mobilize.
That campaign was met with a big yawn.
Meshaal went on TV calling for protests and for
arab blood to mix with Palestinian blood, his words,
the incitement wasn't subtle and it was clear
they started a war hoping to draw in everyone.

Egyptians to their credit quickly declared their national security
was paramount, translation: fuck off.
Their army wasn't about to help an islamist movement allied
to the same extremists
that had killed hundreds of Egyptian soldiers in Sinai.
Didn't know that.

Arabic language media is rarely reproduced in the west and when it is, it's usually messaging designed to trigger the useful idiots - like Frankie - with images of dead children.

The part that confuses me is how Hamas got it all so wrong. Presumably these people had been - up to last October - competent strategists.

The question you should be asking is why did Netanyahu send the IOF away from Gaza on Oct 6
This has been going on for decades.

You underestimate the level of delusion that has recently gripped Hamas
and Hizbolla supporters and writers and presumably their leaders too,
they truly believed a military balance of power
has been achieved and that it's now shifted irreversably in their favour.
They believed their own rhetoric.
See Meshaal's recent quote that Hamas losses in Gaza are "just tactical" to get an idea.
Our own arch-assassin Nasralla had an interview on a pro-resistance channel
where he chuckled while telling of a dream he had of people rushing to airports and sea ports
south of the border.

Countless articles popped up in the "resistance media" after Oct. 7
claiming historical Palestine is now "within reach", "all the land"
not just Gaza and the west bank, they truly believed it.
Then you have the messianic types who believe Armageddon is upon us.

With respect to arabic media, you mainly see al-jazeera English
which is the glossy version of its crude arabic twin, the MB network as we call it
with its incendiary reporting meant to mobilize and incite against other arab governments.

What you don't see on here are the sensible opinions from west bank Palestinians
many of whom have called for demilitarization or called Sinwar and Hamas delusional (even Abbas himself is on the record)
or the Lebanese media that had been publishing anti-Hizbolla and anti-islamist articles
since long before Oct. 7, Hizbolla's death squads and assassins be damned.

Help me with this stuff.

If you have a fanatical Islamic militia equipped with AK-47's and the IDF calls in tanks, artillery and air strikes and literally blows your positions apart, how can you believe that you are winning?

Before the IDF attacked, I imagined that it would be ground down by urban warfare attrition, like the Germans in Stalingrad. But the IDF simply called in armour assets and tac air and smoked anything that shot back at it. It appears to be a one-sided shit-kicking.

Why didn't Hamas leadership - far more familiar with the IDF's tactics and capability than I was - foresee how one-sided the fighting would be?

hamas leadership arguably did pretty well except those who died. Gazan people and infrastructure is not really their problem. They don't give two fucks about it as long as they can stay in power. And it seems that hamas is still a political force there.
So they'll get new money from islamists and from useful idiots and everyone in between like UN. Life continues!

Yes.
I was watching Electronic Intifada on YouTube and they were talking about a Houthi drone.
They were talking about it as if it was some brilliant military strategy.
Another guest on talk show was talking about how Israel was already defeated.
Who are they trying to convince?

But you also know that as long as Israel continues to illegally occupy and illegally steal more of Palestine there will be resistance.
That's the idiocy of this entire venture.

Now you've got the General's Plan in action, Israel bombing every city in Lebanon and having successfully become the #1 killer of children and #1 cause of child amputees globally.

All you've done is turn the zionist brand into a movement associated with genocide and hate.

Electronic Intifada does some good reporting and some not so great.
The UK just arrested the guy who runs it, part of the crackdown on the free press on behalf of Israel.

What you call resistance is the refusal of many Arab entities to ever acknowledge Israel's right to exist. Until that happens Israel will constantly be under attack from them and they will constantly be forced to keep fighting back and Arab civilians will suffer..

That is the idiocy/fallacy of your argument.

Geno, do you acknowledge Israel's right to exist within the 1967 borders?

Every accusation is a confession, Shazi.
You refuse to acknowledge the right of Palestine to exist, back wiping Palestine off the map and the genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

This will be the fate of zionism

Maybe now with the eliminiation of so many Hamas and HEzbollah leaders and senior commanders etc, the poor Palistinians have a chance to forsake this approach to the return of their lands and start fresh. I think Israel wants this to end as much as the average Palistinian.

They have no leadership though other than supported by Iran. Just their clans/tribes are left.
Yes. That makes sense. Especially after Hezbollah delivered a drone through the bedroom window of Netanyahu just the other day
