I dont know why we dont have live coverage of the English Premiership or the Champions league. In England they have live coverage of hockey mainly the Leafs.

Last year I was in England for the last 5 games of the Stanley Cup Finals and I was able to see the live games. I had to stay up till 3am but I still saw them.

When it comes to important games in the F.A. cup or Champions league we should be able to see the games.

Makes me wonder if they will show Liverpool Vs. Man U on Sat.

Exactly! Very well said. All we want is to be able to watch live coverage of important games like the Champions League round of 16. It doesn't matter if it's the nosebleed channels, just give us our games.

They can't be more important than PEI versus the Territories in women's curling.

Well let the argument re-fuel itself. The next round of games wont be televised live either:

What pisses me off the most about this overnight schedule is that you watch the one live game on Telelatino and the commentators give the score for the other games knowing that TSN won't show them until later.

Hey hold on a second. Am i mistaken or do i remember during the World Cup that both TSN and Sportsnet who are owned by the same company go back and forth during the series. I believe that if TSN couldn't show live then Sportsnet picked it up. It seems to me that this isn't rocket science and they could do the same thing. Anyways i think Sportsnet was showing one of those lame poker series.

My understanding is that TSN is part of CBC and that Sportsnet is operated by Rodgers Communucations.

TSN is not part of CBC.
TSN is owned by CTVglobemedia(80%) and ESPN(20%).
Sometimes, for things such as the World Cup or Olympics, different TV networks have agreed to work together, but they remain different companies with different owners.

Maybe TSN should do like ESPN and create a TSN2...
TSN2 was proposed, but in 2000 the CRTC ruled it would not be permitted to carry live sports events. There is now a "TSN Alternate Feed" available if you have a digital cable box or satellite service, but it is only allowed to carry programming 10% of the time.

CTVglobemedia's recent acquisition of CHUM Limited involved obtaining CHUM's specialty channels. They now own seven or eight of these that are MTV/MuchMusic type of channels, at a time when very few music videos are being produced. Nothing has been announced, but it would seem reasonable to assume they may want to change one or more of these to be another sports channel.
