If you are first on the scene of such a thing and you are employed by that company, then you should act to save lives, it is a moral and ethical responsibility. To wait for first responders is to condemn people, if there is something you could do.

As a lay person, not knowing the placarding symbols, there is nothing binding upon them to act, because they are unaware of the dangers.

I saved a girl's life on the subway a few years ago. Her leg got caught in "the gap" between the train and the platform and the train started to pull away. At great risk to my own life and limb, I sprang into action

I know everyone lives their lives as they see fit...and some of us are more reckless than others( hmmm..is reckless the right word here.?)
I have been on both sides of the equation...I have saved a couple lives...but I couldnt save a couple either...even though I tried...and its those memories of the ones I couldn't that haunt me..to this day...so maybe that's what it is...I'm haunted by those memories which is making me more reckless???
As I said...I can't / won't sit back and do nothing....

watching someones eyes go dim and the life leave them cuz you are a few minutes to late is something you won't ever forget. it's the motivation for not hesitating the next time.
