Did anyone catch the Bell Canadian Open broadcast this past weekend? Rob Black and Bob Weeks have GOT to be THE worst, most boring sportscasters on TV. I think they're right up there next to Vic Rauter! There's tons more action watching paint dry or grass grow. No wonder some people think that golf is a boring sport... watching these guys can put the dead to sleep! Is there anyone else that is less monotone than these guys? I think not.... there's more action in the stock section of the newspapers than these two can generate in 6hrs!

No Contest its Rod Black this guy is brutal he should do figure skating and thats it so i would never here him ever he ruined the canadian open on the weekend for me and is awful with the blue jay games and should not be allowed to do CFL games anytime. Actually disgraceful he filled in 1 week for Mccowan on prime time and it was unbearable to listen too, honourable mention Paul Macguire and Joe Theisman and Jamie Campbell on the jays broadcasts just terrible boy do i miss Dan Shulman and Buck Martinez
All the dumbass broads on the sidelines of NFL games. If I want women at a football game I'll gawk at a cheerleader. None of these women know jackshit about football. My hand to God I heard this on the tube during the Saints-Panthers game on Sunday - "Well Jane Lorenzo is on the sidelines - What have you got for us on Aaron Brooks' situation?", said Erik Kramer. Jane Lorenzo replied, "Well Erik it looks like he's hurt, back to you". "Huh?" said Erik Kramer. Brutal.
Mark Hebsner (spelling) has got to be the most obnoxious dolt who has never played a game yet who imposes his twisted view on events. His old partner on global, Jim Tatie (again with the spelling) use to look at him with distain and utter contempt after this clown gave his view on a sporting event.
This is the same guy who asked Milbury if his team choked after losing a very close seventh game. Milbury went balistic on him. If it had been Terry O'Riely there would have been a dead sports caster.
I believe this jerk also tried to extort $ from the Skydome when it was first named by legally registering the name.

To him the adjectives he uses are more important than the event and if he was any more Pro-American it would make me puke

I remember when he said Michael ohnson was the fastest man in the world because if you split up his 200M time into two 100's he'd be faster than Bailey's 9.84. It's just too bad that Costas didn't realize that Johnson is already in full stride while starting his last 100, and the fastest man in the world is always whoever wins the 100M final.

I third Bob Costas. Geez...alwasy an excuse when the Americans lose something and never that they just got beat. THe worst was when Donovan Bailey broke the WR in the 100m thus earning the traditional title of "World's fastest Man". Michael Johnson wins the 200m, and then Bob Costas declares MJ as the "Worst Fastest Man" because he is American and Costas divided his time by 2, which was lower than Bailey's 100m!! Huh? Donovan has to start from zero and MJ gets a running start to the second 100m...the logic is insane!!! I dont remember him previously calling the 200m winner the "WFM" when an American wins the 100m!!! What an idiot.
Jerry Glanville when he was on whatever American station doing football commentary. First of all, he's a hillbilly. It looked like his seatmates didn't even undertand his hillbilly accent and hillbilly-isms. When he got excited over some play I expected him to pull out his colt 45 and start shooting pop cans on the tv set!

I'll never forget the time I ordered The Felix Trinidad/William Joppy PPV and unfortunately had to put up DKP piss poor production value and Sheridan's lame commentary.
Really makes you appreciate HBO and Showtime.

Rod should still be working at the Saint's roller rink where he started, but somehow he managed to work all the way up to a great position with CTV covering the biggest sports on that network..
I believe that he did it all without any family or political connections...

I find Anber to be very insightful and humorus, while Maguire is inofrmative but just goes overboard when it comes to breaking down plays, etc.

I worked with Rod prior to the Barcelona Olympics. CTV sent Rod and the production crew off to a " workshop" session to refine his on air presence and the production values. They worked with people that had helped refine Jim Makay in his early years. They were hoping to create a Canadian Jim Makay. ( I may be spellling Jims name wrong)
We know JIm Makay went on to many wonderful years as the voice and persona of ABC sports.

I know Rod personally. He is an absolutely incredible human being. All those OXFAM type shows you see..he does that on his dime. He takes a paid leave to do those videos. He does that twice a year.
If he has any downfall it's his truthfulness. When he sounds like a kid on TV describing play by play or a golfer....it's because he is simply describing what he see's.
He has not unfortunatley gone from spectator to commentator.
While I love the guy as a friend, he is as many have pointed out not going to be a great sportscaster. He could be..but I don't have that answer.
Rod needs to know when to say...good..but not good enough!
Otherwise...I will tell you with 100% conviction, you will never meet a finer person than Rod Black.
