Brazil wasn't very impressive and the Japanese coach played a huge role in the second goal.

I think in most games against Brazil, the opposing team will be playing against the referee as well.

Croatia played well for an underdog but not enough attempts on goal.

Croatia's goalkeeper was pretty uninspiring letting all three savable goals go by.

Very casual.

The team that makes the most attempts on goal usually prospers.

I await the great teams, Germany, Argentina, Spain ....

The article is 9years old. Did you have to bring religion into a discussion of an amazing sport!

I read that the US is now the #3 TV national market of soccer!

A would cup here (again) would be fantastic.
The major sponsors are already putting the thumbscrews to FIFA. Supposedly FIFA has already told the American organizing committee to resubmit their plan. I've heard that Rose Bowl II is going to be a spectacular venue, I have to look up the blueprints. After all how can you hold a major event like the WC on a sun scorched island in the middle of a war zone?

I cant wait for some of them exciting 0-0, or 1-1 games.
That statement sounds like that of a person who doesn't watch the game or knows it at all. Fair enough. Most people living in North America and conditioned to the corresponding geography of sports don't get futbol. This is the WORLD CUP. The planet's most popular sport.

In a more North American context, consider scoring in baseball on home runs only. A home run would be the only way to score.

A futbol goal is an extremely intricate and difficult task to execute. Hence the joy of watching the only game referred to as 'The Beautiful Game'.

Holland vs Cazzo Grande (that's who Spain are until their silverware run is stopped), looks like a barnburner.

Unlike the Brazil farce, Rizzoli is officiating monkey business and diving will be punished.

By the way Beckenbauer is suspended 90 days from Fifa as he didn't work with the Qatar investigation. Maybe he was on the take too.

Former German player Franz Beckenbauer was banned from any soccer-related activities for 90 days by the sport’s governing body for not cooperating with an ethics panel probe into Qatar’s bid for the 2022 World Cup.

Beckenbauer, who won the World Cup as a player and a coach, was suspended “on the grounds that a breach of the code of ethics appears to have been committed and a decision on the main issue may not be taken early enough,” FIFA said today in an e-mailed statement. “The apparent breach relates to Mr. Beckenbauer’s failure to cooperate with an ethics committee investigation despite repeated requests for his assistance, including requests that he provide information during an in-person interview or in response to written questions provided in both English and German.”

The case is now the subject of formal probe by investigatory chamber member Vanessa Allard, FIFA said. Beckenbauer was on the FIFA board that voted to give Qatar the World Cup for 2022. That vote is being investigated by former U.S. federal attorney Michael Garcia.
