John Herdman may not want the job, English players make too much money, they put their clubs ahead of their country. The clearest indication of that is the number of front line strikers who refused to take a penalty against Donnarumma. Southgate didn't call up Ademola Lookman either, he's scored 7 goals for Atalanta so far.

Fikayo Tomori has learned to live without Davide Calabria. He made two key stops to save AcMilan from going down to defeat against Fiorentina. The first one was VAR reviewed, it would have been harsh if the penalty was given. The second was a goal line header with Tatarusanu out of position. Still Harry Maguire deserves his place, he's making almost twice as much as Tomori.

If the Job is offered to Herdman, he will 100% jump on it, why wouldn't he? One of the highest profile coaching jobs out there and being English, the chance to coach your own national team? I just don't see how Herdman passes on that opportunity, no way, Sir!

Lookman opted for the Nigerian team and was part of the team at the African Cup earlier this year.

I agree. But somehow Gareth seems to be fixated with Maguire. Will not be surprised if he starts all the games. All depends on England's form and how Gareth gets them to gel during the Group stages. Doubt England have a chance of winning the World Cup.
England had the chance of making the finals in 2018 against Croatia but Southgate's coaching let them down (doubt they could have beaten France in the finals though) and were favourites to win Euro 2020 against Italy but he got out coached by another average coach in Mancini.

England already missing two key wing backs in Reece James and Ben Chilwell, an injured Kyle Walker and now they Southgate picks Harry Maguire ahead of Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi has me scratching my head. Southgate is a shit coach that has held the England squad back in the last two major tournaments.
I think we could potentially see a darkhorse/under dog go real deep in this WC. Switzerland is one team folks need to watch out for.
Harry Maguire was an unused reserve in Man Utd against Fulham earlier today. It's been like that since the debacle of the first two Utd games. And yet this is the man who has the full confidence of Southgate. Unreal

Two outlandish statements. Those. England players are notorious for missing penalty kicks, after which they are roasted by fans and the media. Example. The players who missed the penalty kicks at the Euro tournament were subjected to racist vitriol

LOL! That is true. Still, England is not gonna win any major tournament with Southgate at the helm, not gonna happen. Sadly they have one of the best rosters in world football at the moment but the one in charge is just clueless as to what to do with the squad.

cex I believe you but I had to verify, Ademola Lookman is representing Nigeria...and they didn't qualify. Rahim Sterling should have taken the penalty not Bokayo Saka, at least the Arsenal man is laughing best.

The sleazy Sepp Blather now admits that the WC is Qatar is a mistake. He was rewarded handsomely for giving the 2022 WC to Qatar when it did not need to be called. He has the blood of 6543 South Asian workers on his greedy filthy hands, maybe his conscience is troubling him.

I hope Sheik al - Thani and Sepp Blather get AIDS.

The Nigerian team had courted Lookman along with other players of Nigerian descent (Saka, Abraham and Tomori) that were eligible to represent England
I thought Grealish and Henderson should have stepped up as both were more experienced and captains of their club teams and not leave that responsibility to teenagers like Sancho and Saka.
Blatter is a cunt. If he truly believes it was the wrong decision, then he should start by giving back all the money he got from them, but, he won't do that.

Tomori is a Calgary native, he should play for Canada. Today he showed what Southgate will miss, he played like Godzilla blunting two certain goals for Fiorentina. One of them went to VAR, it would have been harsh if the penalty was given. At least Harry Maguire will be well rested for the WC.

The only English players that are really overpaid are the ones playing for the Manchester clubs, but they tend to just over pay everyone. No English players in the top 10 salary rankings.

Southgate has been alright for England, better than most before him. I can’t really imagine any other English manager who could have done a better job than him because none of them are successful at club level. The one thing he could have done better in the final was to bring on Henderson and someone else like Grealish or Sancho earlier or at the same time Manchini made his subs, which may have prevented Italy from equalizing. Italy were gaining more and more control of the midfield and Henderson is good at wrestling control back. He did it several times for Liverpool in the last champions league knockout stages, and for England throughout the euros itself.

The “current best English club manager” Graham Potter is already looking like he’ll get sacked at Chelsea. Big Sam is still the most successful English manager with a perfect record 1-0.

Other than Tomori’s performances in the 2 defeats against Chelsea with the red card, can’t see why Southgate didn’t include him. England are just asking for trouble relying on the gaffe prone duo of maguire and Dier. People were also complaining that Ivan Toney didn’t get picked having scored 10 goals this season and a brace in Brentfords 2-1 win over city this weekend, but no striker other than Kane will get any minutes on the pitch as long as Southgate is in charge.

Sterling is an awful penalty taker, he’s scored 4 and missed 4 in his career. One of the 4 he scored was from a rebound off a saved retake, after also having the first attempt saved. Pep stopped giving him penalty duties after that. Grealish and Henderson should have taken.

Euro 2024 will be in Germany, Italy could repeat.

The 21st Century bambinos are starting to excel for their clubs. It will depend on how Rolling Thunder II does when he returns to Ac Milan. Like Gigi Riva, the original Rolling Thunder, Lorenzo Colombo has a cannon of a left foot. With Italian players not going into the searing heat of Qatar, it could pay off in the long run. The worst part, PSG may win the CL, Donnarumma is the starting goalie and he's back to his best.

Rombo di Tuono II is currently on loan at Lecce, he helped them gain promotion.

Not long as Canada's in it Dane.

Brendan Rogers will replace Southgate if he slips up in Qatar. I detest the idea of Herdman leaving.

The latest is that Ronaldo has now spoken out about being betrayed by Man United. He expressed his feelings that there are certain individuals (unknown at this moment) who want him to leave the club. Man United have hit back to say that they are looking into Ronaldo's statements, and refused to comment any further.

Have to see how it affects Ronaldo's performance in Qatar!!

He is interviewed in this link:

What about Rasmus Hojlund or Andres Jungdal, have you forgotten about them? Both are Primavera players, Hojlund did score for Atalanta. Ac Milan are hoping Hugo Lloris stays healthy, Mike Maignan is the back up. If Tatarusanu gets hurt and Maignan can't go then Jungdal gets his first Serie A match. You know Italy develops goaltenders well.

Btw, the Albanese Thomas Strakosha spent six years with Lazio, is he the starting goaltender for Brentford.

Told you each WC has some upsets ;)

France needed a happy and strong Paul Pogba but first and foremost Kante... Mbappe cannot win it alone.

My other upset are Spain. Japan will surprise them.

Ecuador is the Canada of south america for this WC. Except they have a much easier group.
