Windows 10 ... Worth it ?

I was using windows 7 on my desktop and opted to try Windows 10, so did the upload thing.
It was a mistake.
Windows 7 was fine for my needs frankly. It's also a more traditional and logical set up for me. For example, Windows 10, you need to search for everything and it's a pain in the ass. No longer is there a control panel for example, but if you search for it, you can link to it.
Also, it fucked up my printer configurations and the new adobe is not what I'm used to (it is now internet driven).
Windows 10 also has this weird start button that links you to various social sites, weather, news, sports, etc. For kids in my opinion.
The one thing about Win 10 that drives me crazy is all the little pop ups that slide in from the right of the screen telling me to update this, or download that. I have no idea how to turn it off as it interrupts my work every time and plays this little tone that drives me bannanas.
At the same time, when I bought a new laptop, it came with win 10, so there was no choice. I've suffered a couple of weird problems, mainly with my wireless modem. Just one day, it stopped working, stopped registering the presence of any wireless networks. I took it back to where I bought the laptop and the tech guy there instantly knew what it was. He deleted the drivers for my modem and reinstalled and voila, it worked. According to him, Win 10 has a few bugs like that. No biggie I suppose, but it was a waste of a couple hours.
So my advice would be that if you're using win 7, stick to it. If you're using win 8, well, I'm told that 8 is a pile of shit, so maybe you want to change.

The one thing I did do when I bought my new lap top was to scrap the traditional hard drive and opted for a 1 TB Solid State Drive.
My god, what a difference.
So much better, faster in every respect. Best money I ever spent on a computer.

Depends also how new your computer is, I have it on one of my laptops, I have no problems. Much better than windows 8 I'll tell you that.
Make the jump. It's much better than 7 or 8. Haven't encountered any bugs after the first two weeks.
No issues here for Windows 10.
Had Windows 7 before that had SO many problems before I upgraded it. I had to archive everything, then I had to factory reset everything (it was that bad), then once everything was online, I upgraded it to Windows 10 after all of the 200+ security updates were installed.

Windows 10 Free Now or Wait and Pay
It is free until some time this summer. After that you will pay for it. One company I do business with only supports Windows 7 for now.
Keep that in mind. But if all of your connections support Windows 10 free now is better than pay later. It is an easy upgrade but can be time consuming. It takes a few steps and dowloads. Do some of the steps when you will not be needing your computer.

If you ever had to do anything that required downloading or installing additional device drivers (special hardware), if you have a system with anything unusual about the drive configuration (network drives used for more than slow storage, raid) or anything else unusual STAY AWAY.
You will likely know if this applies to you. If all you did was take your computer home from the store and turn it on then you are fine to upgrade.

Stuff like printer, scanner, video card, audio card, etc. that worked fine with Win 7 might not work with Win 10. Same with software like Roxio, etc.
Assuming that you have a legit version of Windows 7 or older, then the Windows 10 upgrade is worth it because it's free. You can download a USB or CD image of Windows 10 and just hang onto it i.e. you don't have to install it right away. I'd recommend installing a fresh copy of Windows 10 if you can to clean out any crap from previous versions of Windows and applications. It will take some tech savvy to do, but still worth it IMO.
It really depends on the hardware and software. Most of the items you listed should work fine with Windows 10 as long as you don't have some obscure hardware or software. Name brand hardware like Sound Blaster, HP, Epson, Samsung, Roxio, Mcafee, Plextor, ASUS, eVGA, Intel, AMD, etc should have updates to support Windows 10.
i've used all versions: 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.
7 was great.
8 was a little clunky but usable.
8.1 was good improvement over 8
10 is definitely better than 8.1 and i've made it my primary OS over 7.
i've had to upgrade my old software since there are the expected/unexpected incompatibility issues with older software. i had to test it with a clean install to figure out which software wasn't very compatible. i prefer a clean install over an upgrade install so i don't carry over junk over to 10.
every OS has a bit of learning curve to it and i've found after using 10, i prefer 10 over 7 with the exception of the windows updates. with 7, you can select which updates to install. with 8 and up, you pretty much have to OS do it automatically. it's annoying as i prefer to run the updates manually.

New gaming desktop came with W 10, my first Windows box in 7 years - it's fine, little awkward finding stuff but that's probably me really. It's going to be a special purpose box for me (gaming and VR) as long as those work it's all good. Have not had the network issue the Captain had.
I found the upgrade wasn't all that difficult. Any new operating system is going to take some getting used to, and this was better than jumping from 7 to 8 (I hated 8 and avoided it). I am a little worried about how Microsoft is going to monetize it, as it seems pretty unclear at this point.
