Yeah I noticed that business of Roger having an open side to hit to and not doing it, as well. It baffled me as on a couple of occasions he could easily of won the point by doing so. As you say maybe he was trying to wrong foot him (and get another fall out of him) He'll also rue two sitting, mid-court forehands that he didn't put away in the first set tiebreaker. And of course failing to convert while serving for the match at 40-15 in the fifth. Oh well, que sera sera. I don't think we've seen the last of Roger contending at majors yet - he's looked too good physically these past few months. It's just a question of whether psychologically he wants to keep putting in the work.A very high level of tennis throughout, except for a weak 2nd set by Djokovic.
Maybe it is the nature of his game but Roger seemed to make a number of unforced errors/mishits. The other thing I saw was that there were a number of times where Roger had an open side to hit to and make Novak run, but continually hit it back to Novak's side. Maybe he was trying to wrong foot him but it did not seem to work.
Regardless, it was a classic match. Glad I saw it.
Btw in relation to the different court speed with a different grass - the reason I brought it up was because I heard them (McEnroe I think) talk about it earlier in the week. I hadn't heard this previously. It never occurred to me that different grasses could result in different court speeds (though I've been well aware of it with hard courts for years as its been commented on forever). I just found it hard to understand how grass, especially being that short, could affect the speed and thought that someone might have some insight into why it does.
