Judge has Homers, (+22), and RBIs, (+15), locked up. He's in a three way battle for batting average with Luis Arraez and Xander Bogarts; one percentage point separates the three:

Check out his recent performance:

He's also leading the AL in runs scored, walks, on base percentage and slugging percentage, but Shohei Otani might still win MVP.

He absolutely should win MVP. As to triple crown it's a crap shoot ... actually 1 in 3 odds. Batting average titles are often decided on final day or two of season. Let's wait and see what happens. Will be interesting even for non Yankee fans given that it is such a rare achievement.

He'll most likely win MVP, but I say Ohtani is still the most talented, 2 players in one when he pitches and DH.

If you were to create a team from scratch, you will take Ohtani over Judge

The "Show" stats:

34 HRs, OPS .891

2.34 ERA, WHIP 1.04

It will be interesting to see what the Angels do with Otani over the winter. If he has to go to arbitration, he probably sings somewhere else after next season.

I didn't realize Judge was hitting .316. Truly amazing how far his game has come. It wasn't too long ago he was whiffing once in every 3 plate appearances. He's also chipped in 16 stolen bases this year. Easy MVP call for me.

The past 15 games stats, (graphic in post #1), corresponds with Judge's September numbers in the game logs:

https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=judgeaa01&t=b&year=2022.

His average was a post April season low of .274 a few games before the All Star break. Hitting .491 for 15 games raised his average by 20 points. Bo Bichette is up 23 points since the end of August. Judge has better BA numbers in September, but he's also 30+ points higher, so his numbers don't go up as quickly.

Soon the elite hitters, such as Judge, will sign for $50 million a year, and the elite starting pitchers for $35-40 million a year. So does that mean Ohtani, who is both, should ask for $85-90 million a year when it’s time for his next contract? It will be interesting.

As a Yankee fan I can tell you I've had the pleasure of watching every game this year.

His season has been remarkable and he isn't slowing down. He made an adjustment in his swing which makes him shorter to the ball.

He can wait on pitches longer now. It was pointed out in a video that I saw on the SB Nation Yankee site Pinstripealley.

It's hard to put a fastball by him now and with his power he can easily go to the opposite field and hit it out to the short porch in right at Yankee Stadium.

He's pretty much taken over centre field now but that will change when Harrison Bader comes off the IR. He will go back to right.

Presently his fWAR is higher than Ohtani. Ohtani is a marvel but this season Judge is a smidge better in my opinion.

As for the triple crown. It's going to tough. Bogaerts is playing for a lucrative contract next year so has plenty of incentive. Don't know much about Arraez. Other than he's a high contact first bagger with not much power.

Yankees have 16 games left. There last four are against Texas. Tomorrow they have 2 against the Pirates and then 4 with Boston. They are going to see a lot of late season call ups and teams just grinding out the season. Judge should continue his torrid pace. I don't see any reason he wouldn't.

In closing I'll say this about my team. They're not better then Houston. That's for sure. And I think the Jays could take them as well. Overall I from the start of the year thought the Jays have the better lineup..Let's see how this all shakes out.

Judge is looking at a lucrative contract, as well. Don't rule out the Dodgers making a competitive bid. Their ownership doesn't care about luxury tax penalties. They'll likely make a qualifying offer to Cody Bellinger, with no interest in resigning him, and spend the $17 Million/ yr + arbitration on somebody better.

I can't see them wanting to re-sign Joey Gallo, either; he's a free agent after this season, and I would non tender his ass. He's struck out in more than 44% of his career at bats, and going into tonight's game, his career BA was exactly on the Mendoza line. I don't think any Major Leaguer has ever before had 2,300+ at bats, with a .200 batting average; not even 1960's shortstops or Chris Davis. Joey's salary is $10.275 Million. Take those two off the books, and there's about 2/3 of what it might take for Judge to go west.

As per Gallo. The elimination of the shift next year will help him more than any other major leaguer I would think...

Still though he got so many holes in his swing. It was alarming to watch him in pinstripes this year.

Judge bangs #60. Next homer ties the AL record set by Maris in '61. The homer after sets a new AL record.

Given the collapse of offence all around MLB in the last few years, it's a phenomenal achievement.

Forget Maris' record for 61, Judge is on pace for breaking Bonds' MLB record of 73 dingers in a season

After 143 games, Judge has hit 60 HRs
In 2001 , after 143 games, Bonds hit 57 HRs.

Not even close.

Judge has played in 143 of the Yankees' 147 games to date. He would need 14 HRs in the last 15 games to break Bonds' record. Difficult, but not impossible.

In 2001, Bonds had 66 HRs after playing in 143 games. He had six more in his last ten games played:
