Many of us are desperately hoping new and effective coronavirus vaccines will soon transport us back to our pre-Covid lives. But many scientists are warning that their arrival probably won't mean throwing our face masks in the bin anytime soon.

IMO I think it will be until spring/summer of 2022 when things will start to get back to normal if we are lucky.

lots of factors at play here with the end goal to get to herd immunity. people willing to take vaccine being one and another is its effectiveness. just taking a vaccine does not guarantee immunity forever.

But the vaccine is not the only factor and no one can say what the time frame will be.

But at some point we will return to close to normal.

I don't think anyone has a definitive answer, but here's my best guess:

Things are gonna be really bad till about April. That's about when the general population will have
access to the vaccine, and with the warming weather things will improve. The summer will be better
than last, with more gatherings allowed and some sports/performance venues opened with limited capacity.
The fall will see an uptick in cases, but nowhere near as bad as the second wave. Most people will be vaccinated
by then, and you'll start to see actual concerts again, and sports with thousands of attendees.

I think what may happen is if you want to go to an indoor public space you'll need to have an app on your phone
that you scan that proves you've been vaccinated. If it scans, you're free to come in without a mask and be close
to people. If you didn't get vaccinated, you'll have to wear a mask and socially distance. Handshakes and hugs will
slowly come back as people let their guard down in 2022 or so, but maybe we will always be wearing masks from now
on in hospitals or on airplanes, etc.

It won't be the normal of 2019 ever again but it won't be as bad as what we've currently got.

Yes, it will be just like before. The dead will rise, the bankrupt people will be compensated and the "sleeping" businesses will all miraculously reappear. Oops, got to go- seeing a lady at three, can't put my life on hold until 2022, what's left of it. But, keep up the optimism and keep spreading the good cheers.
