Why we do hate the Protesters?

The recent media coverage of the protesters has been awfully one sided...Listening to the radio talk show hosts on AM640 and CRFB 1010 would lead people to believe that all protesters are people who don't have jobs, and don't pay any taxes. They have been ridiculed beyond belief.

Throughout history, many social movements that have been very worthwhile have had their inceptions through protests and some civil disobedience. The Civil Rights movement, Gay Rights, and Labour movements when workers were exploited come to mind.

Are we that pro-establishment and conservative that we mock others for standing up for what they believe in. Would people be happier if they just shut up, and were obedient citizens?

And this justifies painting all Protesters with the same brush?? Sure, there are are instances of people who are looking for a fight, but not everyone is that way. I guess those cops can take a nice paid sick leave now.

I spent a long time working as an activist and I have to tell you I just hate the anarchists who show up at these things hoping to get arrested/cause an incident with police. For these assholes this is mostly about their egos and the exercise is largely masturbatory and has little to do with social justice.

I remember an episode of the West Wing where Toby the director of communications is sent to an "alternative summit" to answer questions and all the audience will do is chant at him. He opens a newspaper and remarks to the cop guarding him "I hate these people with the heat of a nova". I found myself in complete agreement.

The more mainstream protestors piss me off because they fail to co-ordinate and articulate any clear messages. They are also worthless at isolating and marginalizing the anarchists.

I would love to see genuine dialogue and debates but the anarchists give authorities an excuse to put up fences and ignore any legitimate issues raised on the left.

This justifies over a billion dollars in security money spent? Yes, some walls will be spray painted, some windows will be smashed, yes some property will be vandalized, but this is small potatoes compared with the pain the government inflicts on us through their own violence(taking money by force, ex: taxes).

I read in the SUN this morning cops finding bricks on roof tops, rocks and weapons behind bushes within the G20 area for protesters to use against cops. The violent protesters are using the good protesters for cover to do their thing which in turn can turn the good protesters into bad ones if they get provoked. Violence begets more violence with one bad apple.

At a guess, anyone supporting the black bloc actions owns nothing. This shows up in lots of forums. Some are only too willing to give what they don't have and take what is not theirs. The decent folk who happen to need help thru no fault of their own get overwhelmed.

Actually, as a libertarian I believe that many traditional modern day protests achieve very little. But people have a right to protest...and they are sick and tired of being ignored by a government that would rather use tax money to fight them than to engage in a civil discourse.
