I was an 'A' student. I didn't enjoy the experience of being manipulated and frightened by religious nuts.
So have I. You need to re-read my post. You appear to make automatic, inaccurate assumtions about me. Please stop. Thanks.
I said it was a guess. I didn't say you weren't a good student, just that you were not a happy student. I did read your posts quite well and my post was not an automatic response. Did you get the A's because of the system or despite it? That's a key point.

It was neither in spite of nor because of the system that I received 'A's . I was given 'A's as a result of my aptitudes and efforts. If the system was set up so that a student was either guaranteed an 'A' or guaranteed to receive less than an 'A', the system would then be responsible. Therefore your point is moot.
I also spent a year in a public school and discovered a discernible, positive difference in the environment and ability of the teachers there, perhaps you can make a case that I was successful in the Catholic system in spite of the environment and the Sisters (system). Is that what you were going for?

more proof showing racism is linked to religion

The tension escalating between Bnei Brak residents and illegal refugees came to a head Saturday when two Sudanese men were attacked with knives and clubs by a gang of Israeli youths. An initial police investigation found that they were assaulted because of their ethnic origin.

One of the men was stabbed several times in his abdomen and back, suffering moderate injuries. The other suffered minor injuries after being beaten. A Magen David Adom emergency crew tended to the victims before evacuating them to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer.

A police investigation found that the two Sudanese nationals, both in their early 20s, were sitting at a public park in the Pardes Katz neighborhood around 5:30 pm when a group of three to five Jewish youths passed by and started a conversation with them.

Suddenly, one of the Israelis took out a knife and stabbed one of the victims, who consequently collapsed on the sidewalk. Meanwhile, the other members of the group attacked the remaining Sudanese with clubs.

Following the incident, police began scanning the area for the suspects. Efforts were also made to collect information that might reveal the attackers' identities.

'It was only matter of time'

A resident of Dangur Street, where the incident took place, said that he was not surprised by the unfolding of the events.

"Over the past year there has been great tension between the Sudanese walking in groups around our streets, spreading fear among the neighborhood residents and our daughters," he said. "It was only a matter of time before something like this happened."

Prompted by the growing numbers of of Sudanese refugees in the neighborhood, Bnei Brak rabbis issued a statement last October, calling on residents to avoid renting homes to Africans, and warned against a "spiritual danger." Around the same time, a whistleblower hotline threatened to expose the names of Jews renting property to foreigners, in hopes of shaming them into stopping.

Marriages between Jewish women and Arab men took center stage at a meeting of the Knesset Committee for the Advancement of Women this week, when committee chairwoman Tzipi Hotovely (Likud) hosted a hearing on the subject in honor of Jewish Identity Day in the Knesset.

“We must confront the fact that the country has not valued education, which is the only way to prevent Jewish women from forging life connections with non-Jews,” Hotovely said.

“The struggle against assimilation only reaches headlines through stories about Jewish women marrying Muslim men, but it is important to remember that the phenomenon is much wider – 92,000 mixed families live in the State of Israel. There is a need to create a curriculum for girls in high schools that deals with Jewish identity. The fact that girls reach a state of intermarriage testifies to the fact that the education system was absent.”

Jewish Identity Day in the Knesset on Tuesday was sponsored by the Tzohar organization and by MK Zevulun Orlev (Habayit Hayehudi), and featured a number of committee meetings, all focusing on aspects of Jewish identity in Israel. But not all the lawmakers thought that the subject was appropriate material for a committee hearing.

“There cannot be a hearing that seeks to determine with whom it is permissible to be married. It is a personal issue – there are things that the state should not be involved with,” complained MK Taleb a-Sanaa (United Arab List-Ta’al). “This hearing gives legitimacy to an anti-democratic and very dangerous situation in which the Knesset is expected to back up Halacha – the concept of Jewish identity does not need to make racism kosher.”

Sanaa elicited a chuckle from fellow MKs when he cited the Bible as proof of his argument.

“Ruth the Moabite wasn’t Jewish, but her descendant was King David,” he said. “I’d like to see what would happen if in France they held a hearing about what happens when Christians marry Jews.”

Yad L’Achim’s Zehava Drori said her organization took care of women who “are affiliated with all kinds of minorities.

“The scale of the problem is very wide – we feel that there is a constant silencing of the phenomenon,” she said.

Yad L’Achim representatives said there was a growing phenomenon of “girls who are converted to Islam without even being aware of the significance of what is happening to them. The sheikh comes to their house, and converts them.”

Under Israeli law, mixed-religion couples cannot be married in Israel, and thus the women are converted to Islam. But the women, said organization representatives, do not understand that their children, though Jews according to Halacha, will be registered as Muslim.

Yad L’Achim says it is currently working with approximately 1,000 women, while in 2008, it only had about 500. Most of the women, it says, came from backgrounds of severe economic or emotional distress.

“It is not racist to oppose intermarriage – marriages between Jewish women and Muslim men are like water and oil,” said Sarit, a Jewish woman who had been married to an Arab man. “It is not racist because they are not bad, but there are differences in mentalities that are impossible to deny.”

Ben-Zion Gopstein of the Lehava organization said that “there are a number of organizations that work with these girls after they ask for help, but we need to reach them before they get to the [Arab] villages.

“This is Lehava’s goal. We go to schools and to entertainment areas and explain to girls what it means to be a Jewish woman. There are those who date and marry Arabs – including those from religious schools, and haredi girls.”

Gopstein said that in one religious girls’ school he had visited in Bat Yam, 20 percent of the girls at the age of 14 were dating Arabs. “The problem is the legitimacy that is given today to intermarriage,” he said.

“The Jewish Agency invests millions in the war against assimilation overseas, but here in Israel, every girl wants to be Bar Refaeli,” he continued, referring to the Israeli supermodel who is dating non-Jewish film star Leonardo DiCaprio.

Gopstein noted that “in this very Knesset, there is an MK who is married to a German man,” a reference to Labor MK Einat Wilf. But, he complained, “it is not politically correct to speak out about it. We don’t discuss this as being unacceptable.”

I know you are not well educated or well read, and think this kind of stuff is "evidence" despite that fact that the concept of causality is completely beyond you...but...you should know that there is a lot of scientific evidence at the moment that racism and tribalism or xenophobia may well be genetic.

But keep preaching the hate. Maybe someday you will get the conflageration you seek. Problem is...you will lose in it.

I also knew you didn't have what it takes to respond to the posts about evangelical athiesm. You function the same way as the worst religious fundamentalist...ignore inconvenient facts and keep preaching your hateful doctrine.

I went to a Catholic school. It was full of manipulative bullshit to scare the shit out of little kids and MAKE them good little Catholics. Disgusting, filthy and evil.
The point is...
We don't need religion. Morals come from people. So many religious leaders are immoral, coniving, evil human beings that the church is rotten to the core. Always has been. Read the histories of people claimed to be next to god. <shudder>
There are many beautiful, religious human beings.
Many good things have been done in the name of religion.
Those same good people and good deeds will be there without religion.
Religious beliefs have caused death and destruction.
I believe that religion causes much more harm than good in the world and that taking religion away will not diminish peoples desire to do good things.
Your logic is circular and your choice of invective shows that you speak from emotion not reason.

Your sling your opinions like they have some factual basis.

You say morals come from people, but so does religion, so are they equivilent?

And has been shown multiple times on this thread, in the last, say 200 years, religion has not been the prime driver of violence.

Capitalism has caused death and destruction do you advocate its removal as well?

And to counter some of the hate propaganda from Canada Man, here is an great article about how churches are celebrating Darwin Weekend, and agreeing on the beauty of evolution and the separation of church and state. While CM writes about neighbours who light their crosses too brightly, here is a real science-religion co-operation movement that involves thousands of religious leaders:

Now why doesn't CM ever post any balanced material?

hmmmm...

It's not nice to post someone else's work without leaving a link. You tube is not a link. The qualit yof the video says volumes especially when it's pulling stats from 4/6 years ago. The narrator sounds familiar.

That was 9 minutes well wasted. It's strictly an opinion, with some creative editing to back up that opinion, from an atheist.

brainwashing in religious schools

UK Muslim schools’ pupils taught Hindus have ‘no intellect’, they ‘drink cow p***’

UK Muslim schools’ pupils taught Hindus have ‘no intellect’, they ‘drink cow p***’
From ANI

London, Feb 13: Secret filming at Islamic schools in Birmingham and Yorkshire has revealed that Muslim pupils as young as 11 years are taught an intolerant and highly anti-social version of Islam, including lessons that teach that Hindus have ‘no intellect’ and that they ‘drink cow p***’

The video has revealed a teacher at the Darul Uloom Islamic High School in Birmingham, one of at least 2,000 most influential Islamic faith schools in Britain, as referring to ‘non-Muslims’ as the ‘Kuffar’, an often derogatory term that means disbeliever or infidel, the Daily Mail reports.

Gesturing towards the window, the teacher said: “You’re not like the non-Muslims out there. All that evil you see in the streets, people not wearing the hijab properly, people smoking . . . you should hate it, you should hate walking down that street.”

It also shows children as young as 11 learning that Hindus have ‘no intellect’ and that they ‘drink cow p***’.

Pupils are also taught that ‘disbelievers’ of Islam are ‘the worst creatures’, and that Muslims who adopt non-Muslim ways of living like shaving, dancing, listening to music, and not wearing headscarves would be tortured with a forked iron rod in the afterlife, the paper said.

During the same period, secret recorded videos of Markazi Jamia mosque in Keighley, West Yorkshire, have shown pupils being beaten up in its madrasas.

“He slaps one boy, strikes another and kicks a third Periodically he gets up and walks behind the boys. As he passes, the children appear to cower and watch him nervously. It soon becomes clear why,” a reporter who arranged the secret recording said.

In just two days of filming in December 2010, the camera recorded the teacher hitting children as young as six or seven at least ten times, in less than three hours of lessons, the paper added.

Any one remember Gryfin? He disappeared a few weeks before this slug came to town. I suspect you're one serious closet racist yourself CM. One thing though, you don't seem to play favourites.
