I was actually going to call bullshit - loneliness epidemic amongst men and all that - but apparently true. (y)

Canadian seniors who never married (29%) or were widowed (31%), separated or divorced (32%) were over twice as likely to report being lonely as seniors who were married or in a common-law relationship (13%).

Senior women (21%) were more likely to be lonely than senior men (14%) prior to COVID-19 restrictions. When the pandemic hit in early 2020, the rate of loneliness among women rose 6 percentage points to 27% but did not differ significantly for men. The higher rate of loneliness among senior women during the pandemic may be related to their greater concern about the pandemic, increased burden of caregiving roles and stricter adherence to physical distancing restrictions. The higher prevalence of loneliness among senior women during the first year of the pandemic aligns with growing evidence of gender differences in loneliness during the pandemic.
So… I have to kick you off Terb. I know, I know…. (I Know!). I feel terrible. You’re a solid guy. However. You looked up a fact and changed your opinion based on credible information before posting. We don’t do that here. We create a narrative in our minds, and only accept information that confirms that. You did not do that. Sorry. Those are the rules though. If this board isn’t shit show, then why even bother? Why? Exactly… we don’t!

Here is box. Clean out your desk… you have 10 mins. I will walk you to elevator.

I think some of you missed the point of the video. Women are tossing you aside for making a great dad joke…. Taking her to Chi-Chi’s…. Basically, being unrealistically petty.

Perhaps, but they don't really need anyone for the first time in the history of the world.
Mature single women are wealthier than mature single men, StatsCan finds | Investment Executive
I have brought this up before but I wonder how many of the mature ladies have become wealthier due to wealth transfer from divorce.

If women hold the majority of consumer debt, and make the majority of spending decisions it's not adding up to me.

Also just from personal anecdotal experience I have seen very few women who make intelligent financial decisions. The ones I have met typically are professional corporate women with a financial background or highly logical.

I agree that they often do not make good financial decisions. They don't really have a history of making financial decisions according to a comment from one women I read about.
But since they dominate the public sector jobs, the union is involved in their wages and their gold plated DB pensions(so they do not have to prepare for retirement).
And of course, as you probably know, they are the majority at universities.

There's a problem with this study, though, at least as reported.

It is known that women live longer than men in general. They report this difference about widowed people and they also report about senior women being lonelier than men. But how much of that is being driven by women outliving their partners? It may be a small effect, it may be a large one, but there's nothing here to let you figure it out.

I might try to see if the raw data gives a bit more to look at there.

Turns out the relationship numbers are more interesting than I thought. (They also don't have raw numbers though, so there may still be some other factors skewing things.)

CatrgoryPercent of Lonely MenPercent of Lonely Women
Married or common law9.716.0
Widowed or widower33.430.2
Separated or Divorced31.132.1
Single never married24.631.5

Looks like a big part of what is driving the difference are women who were never married being lonelier than men and women who are married being much lonelier than men.

Wtf?
How we loose men? and how women gained more than 100%?
Back to the study.

Those numbers wouldn't be expected to add up to 100.
They are the percentage of each group that were lonely.

I saw a report it said it started in FB.
At least we know some people are thinking like this. And this list is a good indicator on how to test women.
Take them to any of these establishment for a first date. If they don't like it no more dates. Simple, walk away.
Add a five mile hike to the list!

Too many posts to read them all. Tried to read the Toronto Sun article but got a warning message instead.

My advice to any young man who wants a family is to snag an immigrant girl raised to still have old world values.
They come with their own unique issues too, you get her and the entire family is included at time of purchase. Likely still a better bet than Western women.
