And then there is that growing segment of aging boomers. Many of their wives, due to that change of life stuff, have somehow lost all desires for intimacy. On the other hand, a female of a species increases her chance of success not by multiple matings but by getting the best male possible and getting him to stick around and help raise the offspring.
I've tried to explain this to many SO's in the past but they just can't seem to see the male side of the equation...even the biologically trained SO's.
Now...as for species that go against the general rule...many insects live in altruistic (helping each other for the greater good) communities with only one female doing all the mating...but those tend to be exceptions.

In my case my hobbying started after years of infrequent sex.i occasionally have fantastic sex with the so, but occasions are few and far between. After years of trying every positive thing i could to improve the situation, i turned to the hobby. My SO is hot, in great shape, a great mom, and this aside, a pretty good partner. Now though our sex drives are completely incompatible - and she is not interested in any compromise in this area.
So I turned to SCs, then MPs first, then SPs. I can convince myself that my lack of sex / intimacy is my only motivation most of the time; the odd time when sex is unusually frequent at home, I have no desire for sex elsewhere and i ignore TERB, porn SP/MPs almost completely.
