We should probably stop feeding the troll. He's just posting garbage to get attention. His arguments are all over the map; he just wants to argue.

That's the problem, and look at it this way, if they survived 20 years with an ailment in their home countries for sure they can survive another 20 in Canada without wasting taxpayer's money, especially when Canada has better living conditions they should fare along better.
LOL you really think Canada is THAT good?

Canada ranked 30th. (lower than Oman or Saudi Arabia or UAE) just 8 years ago when the last and final WHO ranking was done. Unfortunately politicians were able to stop WHO from making these rankings that embarrassed the powerful G8 nations.

Ignorance shall always prevail I guess...

Listen dude if you can't withstand my arguements than what the hell you are doing here arguing? I care for the economy of this country and don't like freeloaders and people who come here and suddenly decide they want to cure all their ailments on my taxes. I personally know a family who wants to bring their grandparents from India so they can obtain pension and medical care because they said "They will be getting sicker as they grow older".

Also I never said anything negative about immigrants, I'm blasting immigrants who come here with little ailments that they had lived with all their lives and suddenly they want to cure them to the fullest extent of my tax dollars.

Would you believe me that at 23 my back hurts from time to time but yet I have NEVER gone to a specialist for that little inconvenience?

Hey Music_Box,

Of course your have your right to your uninformed opinion. However have you not realized that these peoples problems could have been a pre existing condition that was just found when they entered Canada.

On another note if you are having a problem with the way this country is or the way things are done Im sure it could be arranged for you to live in a different country like North Korea, Afghanistan or maybe a nice house right on the Gaza Strip (I hear its nice this time of year).

This is totally distorted post of anecdotal rubbish that insults the intelligence of the average TERB reader.
I can give just as many examples of immigrants coming to this country and making it a better richer place.
I see it didn't take Lancs long for him to come out with his usual comments.
Lancs is just as entitled to his comments. Find them quite Witty at times. He leans at times but why should he not be allowed to. He is what he is and has every right to be.

All the legal immigrants should go through a serious medical test by appointed doctors and the results are sent to Canadian health authorities to check one more time prior to landing. To be a legal immigrant you shouldn't have any serious medical problems to be a burden to Canadian health system including your spouse and children.

Therefore OP's claim is not true and deeply exegerated.

...it is true that you have to have a medical exam prior to the legal process beginning, though I wouldn't call it "deep". But yes, there IS an exam in advance of the immigration process beginning for just the reasons cited...to prevent person coming to Canada just to garner health care benefits for pre-existing condidtions.

Here's something else I suspect the OP did not know - at least in Ontario (the only province I am familiar with), there is a delay between securing legal status and actually receiving medical coverage. When I immigrated, it was six months. Add to that the 20+ months I was IN Canada prior to being granted legal status, and you can see I was PAYING for my medical coverage via taxes LONG before I had any access to it.

Excellent suggestion ... I'd also suggest that the OP needs to PO.

Hey, Music Box. I'm going to assume you're an Aboriginal Canadian.

'cause if you're not, guess what? You're family, at some point in recorded history....well, you get the point.

Actually you probably don't, but I can't waste any more time on your half-truths and anecdotal "proof."

So you get to decide who gets treated for what, and who doesn't? No thanks. If people are paying taxes and legally immigrate, then they get the coverage that our system allows for. I have not seen a single analysis or statistic that indicates that health-care costs are to blame for our economic problems. Can you please provide one? I would also like to see the facts of the 4 anecdotes from your original post. May I see those? (links to news stories would suffice).

"They will be getting sicker as they grow older" - sounds like a perfectly rational reason to want to bring their relatives over!

What you and other young people often ignore is the 'healthy-society' phenomenon. We all benefit when every member of society is as healthy as possible. The old Indian grandparents? They may end up caring for grandkids, allowing the parents to work full time, thereby indirectly contributing to the economy. (They may bring life-savings of a million dollars, too) Young people, like you, seem to feel that health-care is wasted on the people who need it most, the elderly and the unhealthy. If it was only meant to serve you and your generation, our healthcare system would only provide treatment for the occasional broken arm and alcohol poisoning.

People don't pick when to get ill, but they definitely choose when to get treatment - as soon as they can[./B]

If your back hurts at the tender age of 23, you should probably go to the doctor, not brag on the Internet about how you tough it out. Otherwise you'll probably be crippled when you're 40.

Posting this kind of diatribe is unforgivable.
If you are unhappy with people coming to Canada then write to you MP. If people come to Canada legally then they have the same rights as you. Stop posting this nonsense.

Write to my MP? I don't think massage parlors are gonna do anything about immigration. :D

Sick In Canada

My daughter spent 2 years in Belgium teaching and when she returned home she had a very hard time adjusting to the food here. Alot had to due she thinks is all the preserviatives used in North American food. Over there almost everything is fresh bought and served the same day. Very few fast food spots
and a very low number of obese people unlike NA.
