After the realization that a great man and genius such as Donald Trump once participated in pro wrestling (for branding and fun), it got me wondering why people enjoy it.

Loved it as a kid but grew out of it by age 10.

But I understand its appeal from a sociological standpoint:

1) men love drama as much as women as long as it's peppered with violence (even when that violence is fake). Pro wrestling is all about fake drama queens doing theatre

2) it's an escape from the boring real world and the world's problems. There is a part of all us that never grows up, and for some, this means watching wrestling throughout life.

3) pro wrestling is the closest we get to real life superheroes so we voluntarily play along with the facade that people are actually getting their asses kicked in the ring

4) most males want to be Chads - big, strong, tall, muscular. The wrestlers have the physicality that boys and men aspire to so they watch them. The unspoken assumption is that they have huge cocks, too

5) it's live theatre that encourages crowd participation - a form of entertainment that resides between professional sports and broadway. What red blooded male doesn't want to let loose and channel his pent up energy into some kind of cause, like supporting your fav wrestler against the other scoundrels

Now you know. Do not look down on fans of pro wrestling. They are us.

The most popular wrestler in the world is Becky Lynch.

If Cazzelino wants to get sweaty with her, more power to him.

I follow it casually the WWE asks too much time in a week to be committed to with all of its programming so I just watch the PPV specials. Lately I have turned to All Elite Wrestling for some entertainment, the likes of Jericho who I have always found entertaining are now there.

Sweet Daddy Siki was once my neighbour, he was still in great shape.

The current wrestling WWE programming is almost unwatchable, being family friendly doesn't work. Ronda Rousey can't be happy, she expected to go to the WWE and dominate. She's currently not even in the top three, with Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks before her.

I haven't watched wrestling since Eddie Guerrero died. Didn't know who Paige was when I saw Fighting With My Family for the first time. Unusually gorgeous girl.

Name another actor who did both King Lear and a wrestling film in the same year.

When I was a stripper at House of Lancaster on The Queensway before it closed down, I used to wrestle other strippers in a pool full of baby oil on stage on UFC nights ;)

Am I a pro wrestler?

I tried it when still in my 20's, was in pain for weeks. Good thing the rope burns on my back completely healed. There was a wrestling school fronted by Andre The Giant near MLG at the time.

Give it a go, keep in mind you'll lose your dignity in a hurry.

Wrestling was at it's best during the Monday Night Wars (1996-2001). Competition made both companies better. Then WWE bought out WCW and jobbed out their entire roster and that was the end. I stopped watching shortly after.

You are a "pro" and you wrestled but I don't think you qualify as a pro wrestler. Sorry, Charlie. ;)

The biggest mistake Eric Bischoff ever made was allowing Hulk Hogan to sideline Steve Austin at WCW. At that time WWE was on rubber knees, Buschoff didn't play his cards right. Brett Hart told McMahon to sign him and that he would get him over, the resulting feud turned the WWE's fortunes. Someone mentioned that after The Hitman had his stroke, Austin showed up to get him walking again - but I can't verify that.

Considered the best Wrestlemania Main Event (XIII) of all time - no argument here!

The reason Rousey cannot be in the top is that yes she is athletic but when doing a promo on the mic she's very dull, coupled with the fact when she came in the WWE pushed her way too fast, by week 2 she was fighting for a title made fans turn on her because she was seen as not earning it. That culminated in a pay per view awhile back where she was having the life chocked out of her by Charlotte Flair, and fans were cheering and chanting thank you Charlotte when Flair was supposed to be the heel

At 79, Sweet Daddy Siki still hosts karaoke at the Duke on Saturday afternoons.
Queen at Leslie in the east end. He’s lived in Toronto since 1961.

Thanks Buick, Im going to check it out. Is he still ripped?

scouser 1, welcome back my friend. I've spoken enough about Rousey elsewhere, including Joe Rogan's thoughts on her fights. I'm more interested in the girl I missed, Saraya is stunning!
