Interesting...

...not one person has named Peter Frampton. Just listen to the guitar work on "Frampton Comes Alive". No missed notes or wrong notes or bad timing anywhere.

And my other: Alvin Lee of "Ten years After"...sit and listen to the guitar work on "I'd love to change the world"...or even the opening guitar riff from The Woodstock movie.

Someone mentioned phrasing. IMHO these two have/had it in spades.

Some great, but lesser known, Canadian players.

Mitch Wallace played with Slowpoke, great flat pick style acoustic or electric.

James Kellaghan, when he plays the notes ring they are so pure.

Rick Fines a versatile player and plays everything well.
Hehe, I'm sure they'd all be proud to back up Ed Bickert ;)

I just checked google, and it looks as though two of the three have already done so!

There are really so many great players. Although i'm a bit of a Hendrix disciple and he is my pick for favorite, I don't consider him the best. for the sake of argument i'd say it's Steve Vai, but it really depends on what one's criterion for “best” is.
