These are the same types of people living on government assistance
There are now Indians all over the place in Ontario. I always go out of my way to engage them in conversation, telling them I am GLAD they are here, I really respect the way they are all WORKING hard, contributing to our economy.
They are amazing! I guarantee you in 25 years they will be richer than average Canadians.
And Uber drivers, I always talk to them , find out where they are from, tell them I appreciate them being here.

My client of many years, an older Italian guy who was into property development, told me these words 20 plus years ago:
"Asians and East Indians will be running this country in 20-30 years"

I think you're right the convo should be about what values -not what race or ethnicity - generate excellence and build a great country.
Trying to live off the dole and avoid work? No.
Being prejudiced against those that don't look like you? No.
Getting educated, working hard at any job you might do? Yes.
Obeying the laws of your new country? Yes
I've always felt the current Canadian, Australian, American citizens do best demonstrating the values that made their countries great and teaching the new immigrants how to develop and demonstrate them to become prized Canadians, Australians, or Americans.

I again have to laugh at guys like this complaining about immigrants taking jobs.
They're jobs that clowns like him would never work because they aren't Monday to Friday and 9-5 plus the pay is low. And I'm sure they would counter that it's an afterschool job for their little Noah or Kayleigh.

I am not Asian or European. I’m Canadian but my parents are immigrants from elsewhere.
A buddy of many years, south Asian, Sikh, also born here, immigrant parents like mine also here for 50 + years like mine, shared some similar insight with me years ago.
Who’s your Dr? Asian
Who’s your IT? Asian
Lawyer? Asian
Who’s taking over construction and trucking that was primarily Euro, specifically Italian? Asian.
Call Center? Asian
Got to a pizza place,
Subway, Tim’s, employees and owners? Asian.
Etc.
Now, before some of the angry North American and European whites chime in, yes, there are other many other peoples that work in those industries as well, and thrive, but again, no need to repeat myself.
Been told that what we learn here in College and Uni, they learn over there in grade school.
A lot of angry people that have lived here their entire lives, but had their job taken away yes by people that will work for less and that are smarter. People need to learn to accept their shortcomings, and mistakes and blame themselves sometimes I guess. I think we all are guilty of that.
