Most of the times when I try to be number one the driver will want me to first. Honestly when im driving i expect to always stop for pedestrians and its annoying when they want to let me go first as driver it makes confusion

I don't really pay attention now that I think about it, so I'm not exactly sure probably a combination of both tbh

I'm usually #1, but never #2.

Or the asshat that cross and don't look. I guess they don't teach to look both ways anymore. Or and I am a 1 in most scenarios
When I first got to Toronto people would tease me for looking both ways. Where I grew up if you crossed blind you'd end up getting dragged below a pickup truck..

Ok, I'll do you one better. When you go thru a door in public do you 1 go thru and go about your business or 2 turn around and look to see if anyone else is near by and wait and hold it for them?
Number 2. Have you ever opened a door and let the other guy go through first and he returned the gesture on the inside doors?

There was a time where it was the opposite, everyone stopped for cars. TBH probably better and safer if it went back to this as there are a lot of dumb asses just walking out in front of cars. Doesn't take much to have a life altering injury or worse.

Add in the fact that lots of people are watching cat videos on their phone while they walk and it's surprising there aren't more accidents.🤦‍♂️:ROFLMAO:

My favourite escort meets me outside her hotel and when we walk in, she holds the outer door for me, then I hold the inner door for her. Then if a guy happens to be walking out, he waits for her to walk by so he can check her out, then he does a double take when he looks at me and I say "Yeah I'll be fucking her in 10 minutes". OK, no I don't really say that, I just want to lol.

What I don't like are the people who don't realize that it's not always courteous to hold a door open. If I'm exiting a store and I have to push the door open and you are walking up to the door expecting me to hold the door open for you, you need to not stop right in front of the door, but rather step to the open side and let me walk out and hold the door behind me so you can enter the open door. Or, if you happen to be the one coming out the door that you need to push, and I'm not right there yet to grab the door and hold it for you to exit, don't stand there on the inside, pushing the door out in front of you while you lean there and block the doorway. When someone does this to me, I just grab the door, and say "Just go, you are obviously standing in the doorway blocking it but thank you anyway".

If you're crossing the street and there's a car wanting to turn, are you the type of person to

1 - let the car through since they have the motion and it'll only take a second or two for you to wait, but it'll be easier to let them through and go on because I know I appreciate it when people do it for me or someone I'm riding with.
2 - do you give them a dirty look like "I have the right of way, I'm not gonna be nice and I'm not in the mood" (type power trip).

I'm 1 in all scenarios, it's a small gesture but it makes a big difference for the driver and it's nice to be nice right?
Even in a parking lot, if I see a car wants to move on, I'll go around the car, let to let them drive on without having to wait for me to cross.

Today I saw quite a few people at Square One be total douchebags in taking their time and inconveniencing cars because "me first" type mentality, the fuck is wrong with people today.
Be nice, it only takes a couple of seconds.
As long as they're being careful and following traffic laws I allow them right of way. I hate waiting for pedestrians to cross the street sometimes because it hold traffic back so I give that courtesy to other vehicles when I'm a pedestrian.

I’m #1. Reason being, I’d rather make eye contact with the driver and let them turn before I cross, instead of assuming I have, both the right of way and that they see me. It’s all about self preservation.

Although, when I’m driving, I more often than not, slow down, flash my lights to let pedestrians cross the street if there is nobody behind me and they’re crossing mid-block.

Going off on a tangent but how about you are trying to turn right into parking lot, or even a side street, traffic is stopped ahead and there is one car between you and your turn and that person decides to stop prior to that driveway or side street. The whole "trying to be courteous by not blocking the lane" thing. But I'm behind you with my right signal on, so while that guy is being courteous to a non-existent driver, they are being rude to an actual driver. I get the idea of leaving driveways clear when stopped so someone can try to turn in or out, but you can't leave every driveway free and clear or traffic would be spread back double the length at a red light.

The perceived courteous action is dependent on the situation, however, there are valid reasons why ‘Right of Way’ laws exist. Else there will be mass confusion and incidents.

Why should pedestrians follow the right or way on highways etc imagine vehicles stopping suddenly on highways because a short skirt wants to cross the highway.

I know that personal risks are key considerations in any and all situations.

I'm more annoyed at people who don't take their right of way. "Just fucking go already, it's your turn" is something I say out loud in the car all the time now. My old neighbourhood had a 4way stop near my house. I'd be driving up to it, with my left signal on, and the car coming from the other way, who is either at or going to be at the stop sign well before me, starts flashing his lights for me to go. I haven't even got there yet. So I intentionally would stop, flash the lights back and hold up my hands in the universal "what the fuck are you doing" gesture. One guy actually stopped beside me and asked what was wrong with me. I said "What's wrong with you? It's a 4 way, do you know how right of way works? I'm not even there yet, I have to stop and you're flashing your lights like you are sending morse code across the water to sink the Uboat. You are there first, you go first, stop fucking around and wasting people's time or take the bus".
