His body may be sculpted.

However, the sculptor had palsy.

And drank heavily.

Both straight from the factory, I say the Porsche would win, however, the aftermarket will have many more parts for the Mustang. The Mustang will be more user friendly, easier to work on, cheaper to improve on.

After $5000 more dollars in each ride, the Mustang will out muscle the Porsche.

But then you may have smog testing in Toronto, we have none where I live. So long as its not very loud and doesn't smoke, the police don't care.

BTW, Ford has other Mustangs too, think they have a car like the one from the "bullet" movie. They also have a supercharged Mustang, maybe the Shelby is too, not sure. I am more in to older cars.

Your friend is in a bar, chatting with a hot girl. He says, "I have a Porsche. Want a ride?"

Or he says, "I have a Mustang. No, not a horse, the car. It's a Shelby. No, not Shelly, Shelby. It was some guy's name. No, it's a high performance sports car. No, a Mustang. Yes, a Mustang. GT500. Want a ride?"

Sorry, but it really doesn't matter if the GT500 is a better car. The marketing hasn't caught up to the Porsche. And no one individual is going to overcome that marketing deficit in a five minute conversation in which other topics are the focus.

Then again, if he wants the car so he can tinker with it ...

Heres from Road and Track....Only 1000 Shelby GT500KR "King of the Road" special editions will be made.

A carbon-fiber hood will conceal a 540-bhp version of the supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 from the GT500 that's been modified with parts from Ford Racing Performance Products.

For those who didn't get in line quickly enough, rest assured that all the parts to crown a GT500 king are available through FRPP and SVT...all but the official Shelby CSM 40th Anniversary GT500KR dash plate, that is

Ha, 540 HP, that blow away the Porsche and again, you can take a regular GT500 and turn it into a GT500KR

Women don't know cars huh? Now I'm insulted. The Shelby would out muscle the Porsche straight from the factory. It has 500 hp ( The KR won't be available in Canada otherwise it would have 540 hp)to the Porsche's 300 hp. That being said, the Porsche is by far the sexier car. Now if it was the original Shelby, that might be a different story....

Hey this lady knows more about the new Fords than I do :p

Yes, I was surprise Fords putting in the 5.4 motor in the Shelby. Thats a truck motor.

Wish they stick that motor in the Grand Marquis too.

The mini is a much better car than the mustang. doesn't have the horsepower but the cornering is fantastic.

way out in left field
I don't think this is an apples to apples comparison. There is about $20K difference in price between the 2.

Now if you were to compare the cayman to the GT (in terms of "type" of car) then I'd say the GT.

But honestly, for the condition of toronto roads, the amount of time stuck in traffic etc I'd buy the mustang and spend the $20K I had left over on hobbying, partying, buy a nice big screen LCD, gas, etc etc etc.
