Yep, I did the Hot House Cafe once, Kailani. It was packed and I'm not a big fan of buffets but the music and overall vibe was quite nice.

brkfst scarboro

i'm a big brkfst fan. i want not-greasy eggs, good coffee with refills, hot crisp toast and ham that's not salted all to hell. very hard to find. a pleasant environment is important too.

The "Suburban" restaurant. it is kinda a family place, working class but no riff-raff, seniors, food fits the bill, waitresses are not candy but efficient and friendly. south-east corner at lawrence and mccowan.

That link didn't do exactly the job i wanted but the restaurant is across mcCowan from hollyhedge drive.
(i tried wexford. sat outside which i usually like. greasy food, dumpy waitress, over-priced. never go back.)

Mitzi's is great. Cora's spray their fruit with a chemical to keep it looking good, but it affects the taste. The Grill on the Queensway, just east of 427 still has a $3.99 breakfast with unlimited coffee.

Maybe not the greatest but let's say you're heading back from CB or AS or AGS or SRM into town along Airport Road, stop in at ZETS which is open 24 hours.

One place in Rexdale is Wally's Restaurant.

As others have said, Galaxy is not bad for those morning meetings.

Another place which I'm not sure was mentioned is the Yellow Cup Cafe across from Cloverdale Mall.

Yeah, I've been to The Grill for a morning breakfast after being out late on the town. There used to be a place across the street too but it was closed last time I looked.

I occasionally enjoy Sunday brunch at the Biermarkt on the Esplanade. Their brunch menu is very good, and of course washed down with a good selection from the bar.

im a bit of a food snob so can get into quite a tirade about great brunch. but considering the general audience here, wexfords at lawrence and warden, one of the best middle of the road places in Toronto, and also Boom at yonge and eglinton is quite great. dont get me started on stockyards brunch (st clair and christie) honestly one of the best breakfasts ive ever had to date, b ut geez is it heavy

Cora's is over-rated... you pay so much just for piles of friggen dried up fruit garnish. Mom and pop or Greasy spoon diners are always the best. I used to go to George St Diner... got some decent lemonade or Patrician grill was a grimey place i used to go to after getting drunk at school back in the day (i think they had 50cent coffee old skool tings).. LOL

Hoof Cafe someone mentioned was awesome... unfortunately as far as i know its closed now but reopened as a cocktail bar... The Black Hoof across the stree i've been to only for dinner and was just as amazing.. really nice if your into inhouse Charcuterie... pates, sausages, sliced cured meats. They even have fried sweetbreads and foie gras with white chocolate? yeah!

But my all time favourite breakfast joint is MARKHAM STATION in scarborough if you ever go out east. Not sure if its 24/7 but i've never seen the place closed. Great for Sunday morning brunch wid the fam or you can go there after partying all night for some good old anystyle eggs, bacon AND sausage, homefries and toast for under 5 bucks ALLL DAY. The place is packed on most weekends but they got PRO servers. Everything is served FAST!! they aint playing around there... they know how to hire servers. They might not be the prettiest servers but they do their job well.

Service: 10 (FAST/correct orders)
Face:6 (meh)
Attitude: 8 (usually friendly)
Food: 9 (typical greasy spoon joint w/ large selection)
BBBJ: did not partake/was not offered
Repeat: yes
Recommend: Yes

they are usually the best in my opinion...

no fru-fru bullcrap. Maybe its just me but i love those working class diners because its simple with good service... im used to work in a high end restaurant cooking egg-benni with grapefruit halves and all that stuff everyday for years. I guess i got sick of it... lol
