All,

I've got to spend a couple of days in your fair city soon. Any restaurants you would recommend. I like all food so I'd be interested in knowing any ethnicity.

Suggestions ?

I always enjoy dining at the Y.

Pretty sure I won't be alone in that recommendation.

\my opinion and experience:
King Street Trio: too noisy sitting next to piano and could not hear myself think...food portions ridiculous.

King Crab Oyster Bar ; never been

The Mill in Cambridge: not too bad

Nappa Grill: way over priced for the amount you get

The Blackshop: good food

Golfs Steakhouse: plain food, terrible service, way over rated

Langdon Hall: way over priced, good food

WINNER : chArcoal steak house...was there on thursday past, and it was the best god damn steak and biggest I have even eaten...more professional than
donald trump...

Flying dog on Fri/Sat night. Hange around after the bar/lounge place is packed with milfs and even younger hot women!

Yep... but Saturday evenings are much better.

Great patio bar too. :thumb:

Guelph, ON
I know you said KW, but in case you find yourself venturing to Guelph at any point I'd like to recommend Diana Downtown which is an excellent Indian restaurant.

Wildcraft in Waterloo, mentioned earlier as part of the charcoal group.
and Bhima's Warung, its expensive high end but entirely unique menu's. Very funky space, looks divey from outside but is very nice, and you can watch the chef prep stuff. Check out the menus on-line, very unexpected combinations.

Any places with good food and live music / bands?
The Jazz Room at the Huether Hotel in Waterloo, a relatively new venue already ranked by musicians as one of the Top 10 places to play in Canada.
Friday and Saturday nights, with occasional weekday gigs. Good food and a great place for "listening" to music.

Manhattan's Bistro, Gordon Street in Guelph, more music more nights. Upscale pop, blues, rock and Jazz.

Lancaster Smokehouse in Kitchener ... blues on the weekends

Fat Cats on Hazelglen Drive, Kitchener .... weekend rock and blues

The Hive, King & Scott, Kitchener ... weekend rock and blues

Bobby O'Brien's, King St, Kitchener ... Wednesday night blues jam is always a winner

Molly Bloom's, 10 Manitou Drive, Kitchener ... chain food, rock and blues

Other suggestions:

Ethel's Lounge, King St. N, Waterloo ... Great pub, no live music, one TV

Starlight, King N, Waterloo ... no food, but the hippest music lineup
Maxwell's Music House, King N. Waterloo .... no food, hip music

Missing in action:
The Boathouse, Victoria Park, closed this past winter during lake reconstruction, due for internal renovation this spring, set to reopen in the summer. Great food, great atmosphere and a constant stream of great music every day. Beloved by musicians coast to coast in addition to local patrons.
