It won't. This is your new reality. Going into the second year won't seem as bad once we accept the Chyna virus is our permanent friend.

Once the majority of the Canadian population is completely vaccinated and there is plenty of vaccine to force the unwashed to follow suit, i believe we will return to as close to normal as we are going to get.

The lockdown(s) will end when enough people are vaccinated which will be months if not over a year from now. This could be shortened if anti vaxxers would stop fucking it up for the rest of us and if wearing a goddamned mask wasn't treated like an infringement of rights by idiots.
This particular lockdown will end by start of June but will be followed by more in coming months.

i would think there will be a lot of pressure to open up. People need jobs and not having money is a health risk

Most important when will barbers and hair salons re-open? Who else is tired of their DIY haircuts? Doug Ford's daughter cut his hair recently, but John Tory's mop is still a mess. LOL

I'm guessing we return closer to the 2019 norms sometime in 2022 thanks to our deficient leadership at the federal and provincial level. I think the covid shots will become regular things like the flu shot and we'll have increased scrutiny at airports and masks may continue to be required in enclosed public spaces.

As long as I can start traveling again I will do what it takes.

I know we're all sick of lock downs and this new reality. But once we get herd immunity (which I believe requires 70-80% to get the shot) that's when things will ease. I'm boggling at the numbers of new cases. It's extreme and is already overwhelming the healthcare system. I'll continue to mask up and social distance for as long as it takes. Don't want anyone to die from this.

I am getting vaccine envy from places like the States or the UK and Israel. I wish we could do a million ontarians a day. And while I know part of the issue is the lack of vaccines, the province has done a terrible job communicating things. I mean, like last weeks fiasco of announcements. Then they had to walk a lot of it back on Saturday.

As the US is doing and taking care of their own we need to do the same. Imagine the blowback and rightfully so if Justin was sending vaccines abroad while many here can't yet book a jab!

Canada
Extended to may 20

variants out of control

they hope to vaccinate 100 k per day

that means 3 million more vaccinated by may 20

will that end lockdown?
Nope. We will slow down the spread of infections but it won't end the pandemic by May 20. Don't expect back to normal life for a while.

It's no longer the virus from China, it's the UK virus now. That couple who tested positive for B.1.1.7 lied about having contact with Brits who returned to Canada from the UK caused public health to lose all contact tracing. This is where we are now.

Spikes in numbers usually happen prior to holidays or major get togethers ( Xmas and Easter holidays ). Large gatherings for Canadian and US Victoria Day, so
I'm guessing mid June area . . .

Oh but what happens when the vaccines can't protect us from all the variants from other countries. Hmmmmm. We already got the U.K. and Brazilian variants. With all the flights coming in from Indian I'm sure we'll get their double mutated variant. And seeing how Sweden didn't do a lockdown I'm sure their variant is on the horizon.
