I haven't hobbied since well before C-19. First it was circumstance; I don't live near a major center, just visit. Then Covids hit. Probably going to be in TO for thanksgiving and I'm just wondering what the actual process is like now. Masks/no masks, less/no L/DFK? That sort of thing.

I did search, but perhaps I didn't use the right terms, was overwhelmed with mostly news posts about covid.

Thanks in advance!

Quick summary, focused on agencies (as that is what I'm familiar with)

Agencies closed down mid/late March and reopened late June, when Toronto entered Stage 2 of Ontario's reopening plan.

My experience hobbying since then has been:
  • With most ladies, it's business as usual in terms of what happens during an appointment.
    • Agencies do ask that clients be scrupulous about not coming in if they're experiencing any symptoms (and for a period afterwards). Presumably the same expectations apply to ladies.
    • Some agencies ask clients to participate in informal contact tracing, whereby you let the agency know if you test covid-positive within 14 days of an appointment, and they let you know if the lady you saw does. (I say "informal" in the sense that the communication remains between you and the agency, as opposed to either of you contacting a public health authority.)
  • Hotels and condo buildings require that a mask be worn in the lobbies, elevators, and hallways.
    • I'm not aware of providers using or requiring a mask during sessions.
  • As always, some providers have restrictions on services, such as kissing, DATY, and BBBJ.
    • I do tend to see more of this than before, though it's unclear if it's because providers believe this decreases transmission risk (which I personally doubt), or if it's because there is a larger diversity of providers entering the business in the first place, some of whom may be uncomfortable with higher levels of intimacy.
    • Some agencies attempt to communicate these restrictions in advance (with varying degrees of detail and consistency). As always, reviews are your friend.

Update: I'm now aware of at least one report of a provider requiring the client to wear a mask for the whole session.

More generally, what I wrote above was based on experiences mostly in July and August. Case counts have increased since then, and therefore providers' restrictions may have become stricter too.

I think most of them follow the recommendations of the Chief Medical Officer.
