I'm literally the exact opposite, lol. It's a habit from my SC days. The budget is the budget. If there is a surplus, blow it on something else that's fun, or roll it into the next month. My policy is to meet my obligations, plan for my future, then have money to do other things, and only after that comes my hobby budget. My hobby money is the most discretionary of my money. Treating it as such is one reason why I have no regrets.

I never feel bad about running out of budget, or not having the budget for a given experience. There's always next month, and more fish in the sea.

I usually try to spend and keep a safe margin for my needs, so it changes between months, never thought of getting an actual budget just for this, might do it...
