I somehow thought you might like the PC interpretation a tad better, Lancs.

Hell, no ... I could never make that much sense, let alone in such a concise and decisive manner ... besides, multiple handles is against TERB rules ... and TERB doesn't "wave the rules" for no man/woman - now does it ...

It was Chretien who sent Canadian troops to Afghanistan, and Martin who moved them from Kabul to Kandahar. Neither of them even asked Parliament, or Canadians, if they wanted to do either of those things. Harper's the one who allowed Parliament to vote on the mission. So, if you're going to slam our current PM, please come up with a real reason for it.

ps. he's not George Bush, as much as you may like him to be.

Canadian Accomplishments

1. The biggest accomplishment - the world's foremost multicultural society - our big advantage in this gobal economy.

2. Our constitution - recognizing human rights, while understanding the need for "peace, order, and good government."

3. Historic:

a) War - Juno Beach; Vimy Ridge; are highlights amongst many, many others (Flanders; breaking the Enigma Code) .
b) Pearson - the Nobel Peace Prize for the Suez Solution
c) Discoveries - Insulin
d) Maple Syrup
e) Tim Horton's
f) the Canadarm
g) Bethune
h) Peace Keeping and making: Cyprus to Afghanistan

4. Modern:

a) The Blackberry
b) Pam Anderson (had to have a joke in here somewhere)
c) Communications technology (Nortel, BCE)

5. Political/Economic

a) The Auto Pact
b) NAFTA

6. Arts

(in no order)

Neil Young; Joni Mitchell; Gordon Lightfoot; Alanis Morissette; The Guess Who; Sarah McLachlan etc.

Shania Twain (better seen, not heard)

Margaret Atwood; Mordecai Richler; Robertson Davies; Alice Munro; Farley Mowat etc.

John Kenneth Galbraith; Marshal McLuhan

John Vickers

Glenn Gould

Dianna Krall; Oscar Peterson

Karen Kain, Kimberley Glasgo, Greta Hodgkinson, Sonia Rodriguez (The National Ballet is arguably the world's best ballet at the moment)

I'm sure I've missed much.

The paint roller was invented by Norman Breakey of Toronto in 1940.
It seems Canadians had time to make our homes prettier as well as fighting fascism.
